While most eyes were focused on the final presidential debate, Country Music Television aired their 2016 CMT Artists of the Year and highlighted achievements of #WomenThatDo in the business.

The show featured inspirational women Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood and Kelsea Ballerini. Other female entertainers joined in on the magical night including Meghan Trainer, Jill Scott and Zara Larsson. Although Trainer, Scott and Larsson specialize in pop and R&B styles, these talented beauties stepped up to deliver some powerful and supportive performances alongside the leading names in country music.

Twain received the Artist of a Lifetime award – and is the first female to receive the honor. The ’90s artist has paved the way for today’s country music sweethearts, including Underwood and Ballerini. The upbeat country-pop rifts and beats of her songs keep them catchy without sacrificing her natural talent. Her music videos don’t disappoint either – they incorporate tasteful sex appeal and high fashion to encourage female liberation and support women’s rights.

Underwood has come a long way since her 2005 days on American Idol. Known for radio hits “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus Take The Wheel,” among others,Underwood’s new single, “Dirty Laundry,” was released earlier this month. In the last decade, the country singer has won countless awards, including seven Grammys. Underwood’s honor last night marked her third award from CMT Artists of the Year.

Ballerini, who received recognition for CMT’s breakout artist, released her debut album back in May. From ballad “Peter Pan” to catchy “Yeah Boy,” the up-and-comer’s variety is undeniable. Although she is earning her keep on the Billboard charts, the new celeb still got incredibly starstruck on stage when seeing Twain in the ceremony audience. “Whoa, I am nervous,” Ballerini said. “That is Shania Twain!”
