Twitter exploded after the proud father of four accepted one of Hollywood’s highest honors – and it wasn’t just because a sweet and rare moment was shared. All female eyes seemed to be on his eldest son, John David. Or in other words, the younger, sexy genetic reincarnation of Denzel Washington.
Who else knew this was real?
More actors should take a hint from Denzel Washington and invite their families on the public stage! Anyway, now we’re curious to know more about the loving families who support the leading men and women we enjoy watching on the big screen.
Here’s some fun information that you might not have known about the Denzel Washington kids.
John David Washington, the oldest Denzel Washington son, is on his way to filling his two-time Academy Award winning father’s shoes in Hollywood. This can’t be an easy task. Nevertheless, John David seems to be well on his way to being a superstar, starting by playing the role of Ricky Jerret on HBOS’s “Ballers.”
But before this role, John David landed his first acting gig when he was only nine years old in one of his father’s best-known films, “Malcolm X.”
After receiving her degree from Yale, Denzel Washington’s middle child, Katia Washington went after Hollywood to build up her film production resume.
IMDb credits her as an editorial production assistant in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.” And most recently, she’s worked as an associate producer on her father’s film “Fences” and contributed as an assistant on “The Birth of a Nation.”
The youngest Denzel Washington daughter, Olivia, is a burgeoning actress who made her debut in Tennessee William’s off-broadway production “The Glass Menagerie” (2013).
The 26-year-old up-and-coming actress has also performed in films including “The Butler” (2013), “Robot” (2015) and “Madoff” (2016). She’s also the only Denzel Washington daughter that has the acting passion and drive to follow in her famous father’s footsteps and act for a living.
Malcolm Washington pursued basketball before acting, unlike the rest of Denzel’s children. He also happens to be Olivia’s twin brother.
Malcolm grabbed the attention of many college sports fans when he made the decision to play basketball for the University of Pennsylvania. “I’m in a situation where I can get a lot of support from my parents,” Malcolm said in an interview with ESPN seven years ago.
Nowadays, though, Malcolm is a filmmaker in the making, receiving his graduate degree at the American Film Institute Conservatory.
He’s the only sibling that could not attend his father big night at the 2016 Golden Globes. AFI’s Twitter claimed he was too busy working on his thesis. Busy or not, Malcolm still sent lots of love and support to his family.
