Entity shares some female DJs you should be listening to right now.

What’s a good party without loud, dynamic and energetic music?

Depending on the DJ, your night can be either an asleep-by-8 p.m. kind of evening or a stay-up-till-dawn kind of night. If you’ve got a good DJ, your night is sure to be rockin’. Although it can sometimes feel as if men dominate the DJ world, women have been turning the tables in recent years. These inspirational ladies are spinning sexism out the door and leading the way for fellow women to join the business.

Here is ENTITY’s list of five inspiring female DJs you need to check out:

1 IDA ENGBERG

Thank you @awakenings for having me again! Love to play for you. Always best production and vibe!

Born and raised in Sweden, this techno DJ is a lot more than just a beautiful face. She started spinning at the age of 18 and slowly built a huge following. In an interview with Plain and Simple TV, the DJ talks about how being a woman is actually an advantage. No, I never felt it was difficult because I’m a girl. Female DJs and producers still have the advantage to stand out more. If you are a girl and know how to really rock it people will remember you.”

2 NINA KRAVIZ

Singer, DJ and producer, Nina can do it all. This Russian woman started out fixing cosmonauts’ teeth, but she soon realized that she is best able to express her true self through music. She sat down with Billboard and discussed her unique music style. “I don’t like clean finished music that has no character. I really like personality. You can interact with a robotic system that’s always going to give you the same parameters. Or, you can interact with something gorgeous, like a human being. There should be something f—ed up. Just a little bit. That’s what makes it unique and interesting.”

Raised in Nigeria, this producer, promoter and DJ moved to London after finishing her schooling. Moudaber was one of the first people to bring dance music to Beirut, where she threw the first rave event of its kind after the war in 1996. FNGRS CRSSD was able to catch up with the talented artist and talked with her about how she threw away her degree to follow her own path. “My father wanted me to be a banker, and we had a hotel, for example, he wanted me to run it. And all of these stupid jobs that I did not feel like doing.. Waking up at seven.. It just didn’t work. However, I did try them, until I discovered clubbing, and that became my profession for a long time. I was going clubbing every weekend, and, you know, chasing my feeling, basically. That was my job until I took it really seriously.”

4 AUDREY NAPOLEON

A music producer, singer, DJ and even a creator of her own makeup line all rolled into one – Audrey is quite the talented woman. She got her start in LA around 2009 when she opened for big names like Nic Fanciulli and James Zabiela. Today, she is all over the place, DJing in huge clubs across the U.S. with her unique style of darker music. She talked with EarMilk about why she likes her music to sound dark and obscure. “I’ve always been a dark person. I am very dark in my image and in my art. I’m a very happy person on the inside now and it’s because of that darkness that I can be happy. Everything that you see in my art is me letting go of my fears, my insecurities, my anger, my sadness. It’s all a ‘letting go,’ because once you strip all of that back you can genuinely be happy. That is really what all of this is for… to keep the darkness on the outside.”

From the Ukraine, this DJ, remixer and producer has been a part of the music industry since 2007. She became a big name back in 2013 when she released her first mixing video on YouTube, garnering over 7 million views. After getting support from major names like Calvin Harris and Laidback Luke, the artist was well on her way to stardom. She is now the first woman signed to Armada Chased Management, and Your EDM was able to talk with her about what excites her about this new collaboration. “Right now we’re concentrating on music and sound. So far we have nine tracks ready, and one video waiting for release. We shot it in LA with my friends- we spent two days just riding around LA with the girls and a go-pro. It was so much fun, so the video is fun. I’m very excited to show this to my fans.”
