U.S. Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life advice is truly inspiring for women (and men) around the world.

The inspirational woman is known for her 23-year tenure on the Supreme Court. During her time on the male-dominated court, the Notorious RBG has fought for gender and racial equality as she dealt with systematic sexism and two bouts of cancer. In addition to her professional life as a justice, judge and lawyer, Ginsburg was a devoted wife to her late-husband Martin and dedicated mother to their son James Steven.

Ginsburg recently penned an op-ed piece for the New York Times adapted from her recently released memoir, “My Own Words,” which is available to purchase on Amazon. According to Inc., Ginsburg’s seven life tips will help you raise a trail-blazing daughter. On the top of the list? Foster a love of reading, Ginsburg’s love of which she credits to her mother. The justice also encourages women to be independent, seek out supportive teachers, turn a deaf ear (when necessary), make their own luck and not to let their worries stand in the way of their achievements.

Watch National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution‘s video above for a glimpse of the inspirational legend’s life.
