"The media says I can't talk about that."
Hillary Clinton knows y’all have been shit-talking her after her interview at a Women for Women event in New York this month. And she’s not taking it sitting down.
After Emmanuel Macron’s victory over racist Marine Le Pen in France’s election (after an eerily similar last-minute hacking attack against his campaign) – Clinton took to Twitter to congratulate him.
“Victory for Macron, for France, the EU, & the world. Defeat to those interfering w/democracy. (But the media says I can’t talk about that),” she posted. As Liz Lemon would say, “Ya burnt!”
Clinton was obviously referencing criticism of her recent interview, in which she took credit for her devastating election defeat, but also blamed James Comey’s letter on October 28th as well as Russian WikiLeaks which raised doubts about her. And caused people to ignore seemingly egregious offenses of Trump’s like, you know, admitting sexual assault and outright racism, etc. etc.
Critics like Philip Rucker for the Washington Post wrote about the interview with a clear bias against Clinton, saying the former presidential candidate was “spreading blame” instead of talking about her own “faults.”
“Yet the Democratic nominee declined to fault her strategy or message, nor did she acknowledge her own weaknesses as a campaigner or the struggles by her and her advisers to at first comprehend and then respond to the angry mood of broad swaths of the electorate,” he also wrote.
Whatever, Phil. I like how even with all of the Russia drama – which would be treason, no? – we can still find a way to turn it all back around on Hillary. Yes, Trump’s just basically sentenced millions of Americans to death with that Trumpdontcare health bill but let’s complain about how Hillary didn’t do enough during the election.
But homegurl is over playing nice. Even back in April she was throwing some sick shade, commenting on Trump’s lack of class when he failed to shake hands with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. On the President of Russia, Hillary said, “[Vladimir Putin] wasn’t fond of strong women… though he did shake my hand.”
She also took down these Republican men’s ridiculous desire to ban not only abortion but also access to affordable birth control and health care for pregnant women, and well, all women who aren’t wildly wealthy.
“The things that come out of some of these men’s mouths — like why do we have to cover maternity care? Oh, I don’t know, maybe you were dropped by immaculate conception?” Slay, Queen Hillary, slay.
I know Hillary lost the election. And I will forever be devastated by that. But she’s declared herself “part of the resistance” and let her sassmaster self loose on the public. And ladies, I’m here for it.
