It’s rude to ask a woman her age, so we’ll just tell you Jane Fonda’s. She’s 79 years old, having been born on December 21, 1937.
Even though she’s almost 80 years old, Fonda is still dedicated to keeping her body in shape. “I stay active, I hike, I walk, do resistance bands, Pilates and yoga – you’ve gotta move,” she said in a 2016 interview. “The saying ‘move it or lose it’ is so incredibly true but more so especially when you’re older. If you don’t keep moving you go downhill really fast when you’re older.”

She works out for more reasons than health and appearance, though. As Fonda puts it, “I knew that to be fully empowered, I needed to feel strong in my body.” Who knew fitness feminism was a thing?
This hit Netflix series premiers its third season on March 24, and fans can’t wait to see where the show goes next. The premise of “Grace nad Frankie” is simple: two women think that their retirement dreams will finally come true – only their husbands declare to be in love with each other!
“Grace and Frankie” examines what it means to lose one’s 40-plus-years partner, a topic that not many other shows have attempted to, or successfully, covered. Fans aren’t yet certain what issues that season three will cover, but it’s likely that Fonda will keep viewers on their toes!

Sex toys at 79? Why not? Fonda revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that one plot point in Season 3 of “Grace and Frankie” will include sex toys…so, of course, she did plenty of research to prepare.
“We tried all different kinds of vibrators,” Fonda said. “Use it or lose it, right?” She even shared that she has some sex toys of her own, joking that she sometimes wears one of them – which “looks like a beautiful piece of silver jewelry” – out to dinner, depending on “who you’re with and what the bathroom looks like.”
Fonda doesn’t claim to have been an immediate fan of feminism, saying it took her 30 years to “get” feminism. Although she supported female political candidates and exercised to make herself physically and mentally strong, Fonda admits to not wanting to change her problematic relationships with men.

However, Fonda now participates in the V-Day movement, which strives to stop violence against women. In 2001, she also founded the Jane Fonda Center for Adolescent Health, which tries to prevent teenage pregnancy. Fonda’s motivation? In her words: “When I turned 60 and entered my third and final act, I decided that I needed to heal the wounds patriarchy had dealt me.”
Fonda has stood up for more than just women’s rights, though. She celebrated her 79th birthday by marching in solidarity with the people of Standing Rock, who were protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. Back in 1970, she also traveled around the country to speak about and raise funds for the Winter Soldier Investigation. The WSI was created by the Vietnam Veterans Against War, who wanted to raise awareness of the crimes committed during the war.

Fonda was even arrested for drug trafficking in 1970 when she was returning from her first WSI speech in Canada. After an investigation, however, the “drugs” were found to be nothing but vitamins. She started selling merchandise plastered with her mug shot in March of 2017, though, and is donating all proceeds to Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential (GCAPP), which provides accurate sex education. Talk about making sweet lemonade out of some very sour lemons!
