To kick things off, fixing lipsticks is surprisingly simple. In an article reported by Brydie, makeup Artist Stevi Christine explains that the first line of defense is always putting your lipstick in the freezer to try and re-bind the pieces. If this doesn’t work, she suggests warming up the lipstick in either the microwave or over heat. Once melted the liquid should be placed in a new container and left to solidify. Viola!

Fixing a shattered powder sounds like a nightmare. When it comes to figuring out how to fix broken makeup, this one can be pretty tricky. I’ve never been a DIY kinda gal, but this hack is so simple, so I think I may be converted. You literally only need one ingredient and your broken product. Beauty blogger Make Life Lovely instructs to scoop up all the broken powder pieces into the original container. Next, add a small amount of rubbing alcohol and mix together with a spoon, toothpick or your finger. Once the alcohol has dried up, your powder is as good as new!

So, if you don’t feel like changing your behavior any time soon, these household products will totally revive your dried out makeup. According to makeup powerhouse Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Instagram, simply add a few drops of baby oil to your dried out brow shadow– which Bustle claims that along with mineral oil will rehydrate your creme products.

Brushes

Your beloved makeup brushes may look fine but I can assure you that if you haven’t been regularly washing them, they are NOT fine. Board certified dermatologist and online consultant Joel Schlessinger, M.D. explains to SELF: “if not properly cleaned, makeup brushes can carry hordes of bacteria that can cause serious damage to the skin.” Ok ew, let’s not be those people. SELF gives a super easy and effective method for cleaning your brushes. Simply mix two-parts dish soap and one part olive oil in a bowl and swirl your brushes around, then rinse. It’s simple and will probably only take you five minutes .
