Hypnosis Truths To Change The Way You Think

If you are looking to become more mentally fit, emotionally balanced, or want to toss the limiting belief systems holding you back from progress, hypnosis is the PERFECT choice to help you. I’m going to share some hypnosis facts with you, but my real mission is to help you understand the power you hold in controlling your own emotional strength with the words you speak.

Then I will share some secret tricks I’ve learned along my journey that will help you access the parts of your brain to keep you feeling confident, remaining positive, and achieving powerful mindsets.

I began my hypnosis certification journey a few months ago when I struggled to calm my mind enough to meditate. What I found to be so powerful are the correlations among hypnosis, meditation, and daily living.

Here are some interesting facts you may not have known about hypnotherapy.

6 Interesting Facts About Hypnosis:

  • Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness (ASC), similar to “meditation with purpose” or “positive prayer.” If you are like me and struggle to calm your mind when you meditate, entertain giving hypnosis with a trained coach or hypnotherapist a try! You will be surprised how much easier and quicker you find your mind and body “allow” you to relax.
  • All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. No one can go into hypnosis unless they want to. While in a hypnosis session, the client can hear everything and is in control.
  • You will remember everything after a hypnotherapy session, just like a regular conversation with a trusted friend.
  • Hypnosis facts and myths debunked: You will not tell your hypnotherapist anything you would not want to say to them normally, such as your deepest, darkest secrets or personal identification numbers.
  • Virtually everyone can be hypnotized. You just have to be willing.
  • We go in and out of hypnotic brainwave states every day.

Brainwave States

We all go through different states of “hypnosis” during the day and night as we sleep.

Have you ever felt like you were on “auto-pilot” while driving your car, or heard of athletes being in the “zone” or a state of “flow”? That is an alpha brainwave state, a mild form of hypnosis.

We even do this when we brush our teeth. You don’t have to think or remember how to brush or relearn brushing your teeth. You simply pick up your toothbrush and do it.

The same goes for when we are driving to work. Maybe we are listening to music or talking (hopefully on a headset or via Bluetooth) on the phone. We turn left, we turn right. We stop at a red light. At the end of the day, we know how to get to work because it’s automatic.

When you’re driving, you’re not really in “hypnosis,” but your brain is also not entirely in a “gamma” state which is hyper, heightened, and aware. If it is, that may be a terrifying experience! Whenever you get “focused,” your brainwaves slide from beta into alpha. Much like an athlete would.

Below is a diagram defining our different brainwave states.

Where Is Your Mind? The Conscious vs. Unconscious Mind

The Conscious Mind

Your conscious mind is reading and analyzing all day.

Would you believe that the conscious mind receives over 60,000 thoughts per day? It is constantly processing information.

The conscious mind is verbal, analytical, and cognitive thinking. It tries to understand your problems and asks, “why?”

The Subconscious/Unconscious Mind

The unconscious mind is not limited. It deals with everything simultaneously and is intuitive (automatic).

The subconscious is free to do all of the feeling. It knows all of the solutions.

It is nonverbal, imaginative, and expansive.

Scientific research has discovered that up to 90% of our behaviors are unconscious.

Your unconscious mind runs all of your bodily functions.

Your memories are pictures, sounds, and feelings encoded in your nervous system from the perspective of the age you were when the event took place.

Ways Your Subconscious Gets Programmed

1. Our subconscious mind stores everything that has ever happened to us from the time we were born in our nervous system. What’s even more fascinating is that the subconscious mind stores the memories from the perspective of the age you were when the events took place.

A four-year-old’s perspective is much different than, say, a 10-year-old’s perspective, a 20-year-old’s, and so on.

So if you form a belief system about yourself from a young age, let’s say, for instance, a limiting belief or unresolved issue that speaks to your brain that you “are not good enough.” This belief can rule your life and be lying dormant until something in your life triggers this system to activate.

It could be a divorce, death, loss of a job, or any number of things that activate these feelings in us.

2. Another way our subconscious can get programmed is when we are in a highly emotional state. While in one of these states, we tend to “accept” suggestions and form beliefs/programs/patterns of consciousness.

3. Our subconscious mind believes what our conscious mind feeds it through the words we consistently say to ourselves, whether out loud, internally, or in written form.

4. We are programmed by the people and environment we allow ourselves to “consciously” engage with. Again, this is a conscious choice, but our subconscious will interpret whatever it is consistently fed over time.

5. Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between suggestions and facts. The words we tell ourselves quite literally create a physiological effect on our body’s organic chemistry. The brain creates new neural pathways when you reinforce these suggestions.

Our Strongest Muscle: Our Minds!

We train our brains with our thoughts and words.

What makes hypnosis exciting is that we can utilize it as a bridge or doorway to UNLOCK the unconscious mind to RESOLVE AND CLEAR these issues SAFELY and meaningfully, often with immediate results. Affirmations and positive speech, for example, are forms of self-hypnosis.

What Makes A Strong Woman in One Word?

START PAYING ATTENTION TO THE WORDS YOU USE, BUT GO A STEP FURTHER…

When (not if) you find yourself using harmful word speech (and if you think you don’t, you’re not paying close enough attention) don’t beat yourself up. Unless you’re a Master Yogi, we all fall short.

Here are some resources for overcoming limiting beliefs:

1. First, tell yourself you are worth the time it takes and worth being loved.

2. Try to identify the belief. When you hear it, ask yourself, “Is this true? Or is this an old belief system holding me back, otherwise known as a ‘limiting belief'”?

3. Try to replace the phrase or word that you have formulated. For instance, instead of limiting yourself with, “This is who I am,” or “I’ve always been this way,” or “Things will never get better,” try replacing it with a different phrase that involves a GROWTH MINDSET.

Words Of Affirmations/Adjectives To Define Your Goals

Find a way to re-program your brain that boosts you, such as telling yourself how STRONG you are in a situation. Another way is to remind yourself how you got to where you are or think about what you are working towards.

Examples of affirmations that empower and balance:

  • I am okay as I am.
  • I deserve the best in life.
  • I deserve to have what I want.
  • Others are okay as they are.
  • I am safe from pain.
  • I am safe with rejection.
  • I am safe with failure.
  • I am safe with success.
  • Life is most manageable as I create what I want.
  • I am ready to optimize, forgive, and love myself.
  • I choose joy, peace, and happiness!
  • I breathe fully every day.
  • Mistakes are okay.
  • Every day is a new opportunity.
  • I love myself just as I am.
  • I am beautiful.
  • I wish loving kindness to others.
  • I choose to be kind to and talk kindly to myself.

Whichever Words You Choose For Yourself, Make Them Positive And Powerful!

Don’t have any past issues to dig deep and uncover, but want some help achieving a personal goal, business venture, peak performance measure, new opportunity for growth, or inspiration?

Hypnosis or hypnotherapy training can be the perfect tool for you too! Whether coming in for coaching sessions as a client or learning to become a certified hypnotist yourself, by choosing the right therapist, you’ll never leave a session without feeling empowered.

Sometimes it can be challenging to reach our goals because we constantly say what we want, but they never come to fruition.

The best way to combat this is to begin choosing ADJECTIVES that help support a vision of where we want to go.

Science tells us that when we formulate adjectives in our minds instead of simple noun/verb choices, we tend to more accurately define our true intentions and desires.

If you can define your goals better and take these to your coach or hypnotherapist, you are destined for success!

Most importantly, your strength will come from sharing your positivity and success secrets with those around you.

If you need some help finding an excellent hypnotherapist, you can try looking on the Hypnosis Federation’s website.

My personal inspiration is my own coach and hypnotist trainer, who happens to be one of the most inspirational women I have ever met. She truly represents #womenthatdo.

Randi Light is a certified hypnosis instructor. She is nationally known for her work as a peak performance coach and her four-step process for getting into THE ZONE. The Mid-America Hypnosis Conference voted Randi Hypnotist of the Year in 2012.

For the past 16 years, Randi has hypnotized thousands of children and adults to break through whatever is in their way in order to be able to perform in “the zone,” the ideal performance state which allows you to show up as the best version of yourself.

And finally, one last piece of therapy that has done wonders for me and my growth, in combination with my meditation and hypnosis training, is the use of sound meditation. For example, sound healer Tom Kenyon’s use of music therapy in combination with its healing properties is so incredibly helpful that I cannot put my gratitude into words.

So if you are a woman willing to look at the alternative convention, you don’t have to look far to see the benefits of hypnosis and how hypnotherapy is helping heal the minds and souls of millions. It has helped transform the state of my emotional, mental, social, and spiritual limits. Try it for yourself and see today what it can do for you!
