If you’re looking for someone who exemplifies a true #WomanThatDoes, look no further than Jennifer Schwab.

When establishing ENTITY, Jennifer wanted to create a resource for women to achieve their ultimate potential. She truly has a heart to mentor women in a scalable manner, believing that building and refining lifelong skills and positive character traits will greatly enhance one’s future. So to do this, ENTITY not only publishes high-value content on the site, it also hosts an intensive, seven-week course based in the Los Angeles office every summer.

But in order for all this to be successful, ENTITY needs an exemplary woman at the helm.

Thankfully, it has one.

From her previous business ventures to her extensive educational background, here are five things you should know about Jennifer, ENTITY’s favorite #WomanThatDoes.

ENTITY shares 5 facts about Jennifer Schwab Wangers: sustainability expert, ENTITY's editor-in-chief and all-around Woman That Does.

Jennifer Schwab shows her support for women by marching at the L.A. Women’s March on January 21, 2017.

1 For starters, she studied environmental design and sustainability at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Thanks to her experience at Art Center, Jennifer is now an avid collector of mid-century modern furniture and ’50s fashion and architecture photography.

Once she completed her education at Art Center, she went on to pursue a Masters in Urban Planning and Sustainable Design at the University of California, Irvine. On top of that, she is a LEED accredited practitioner.

And after obtaining her degrees and accreditation, Jennifer consulted corporate clients, restaurants and hotels on energy efficiency and sustainability.

2 Jennifer is a widely-quoted media analyst and green expert.

Jennifer has appeared in dozens of articles in print and online. Some of the publications that have interviewed her include The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Fortune and Forbes.

She’s also appeared on various talk shows and was a green expert for Good Morning America. If you’re interested in viewing her media reel, visit ENTITY’s compilation of her interviews.

And if that’s not enough, you can also peruse her “My Inner Green” column on the Huffington Post, which is followed by numerous influentials in the U.S., Europe and the Mideast.

3 After her studies, Jennifer focused on founding the Sierra Club Green Home (SCGH).

SCGH is the first-ever social entrepreneurship model attempted by the Sierra Club in its 125-year history, and Jennifer Schwab was instrumental in its success.

As a big proponent of green living, Jennifer co-founded SCGH.com in order to make sustainable practices more accessible to the average American. Thanks to SCGH, more people now have information about how to change their daily lifestyle to take care of the environment.

Jennifer was SCGH’s Chief Sustainability Officer. As the CSO, she was responsible for all environmental information, education and initiatives within the company.

She also developed the Sierra Club Green Home “GreenCheck” validation program for green suppliers. On top of that, she is the co-creator of Green Leader, an internationally recognized sustainability education program for corporate managers and their staff members. Because of her extensive work in this field, the Mumbai World CSR Congress awarded her the 2013 award for “Best Green Entrepreneur.”

After growing the company as SCGH’s CSO, she sold it to digital marketing aggregator Frac.tl.

4 Jennifer then received a Fulbright fellowship to study water management in the Southern Israeli desert.

With her Fulbright Scholarship, Jennifer traveled to Israel to teach about water management at the Avara Institute in the Negev.

After the year she spent teaching, she worked for Susan Rockefeller’s family at the Cohn Institute in Tel Aviv for two years.

5 She also does some pretty awesome things in her free time… like fly planes.

Outside of work, Jennifer follows art and design avidly. She also serves on the Museum of Contemporary Art Photography Acquisitions Committee in Los Angeles.

Sometimes, she can even be found on the tennis court, in the Bikram yoga studio or flying a plane. Jennifer is a long-time hobbyist pilot certified in a Cirrus SR-22T, Cessna 414 and Beechcraft Duchess multi-engine aircraft.

And at home – when she’s not being a well-rounded #WomanThatDoes – she’s also a wife, stepmother and dog mom. Her family is made up of her husband, Gordon Wangers, her two stepchildren, Amanda and Rachel and her furry baby, Papillon (or Papi, for short).
