People tend to focus on the food-related aspects of going vegan. However, many beauty products and fashion options are just as riddled with animal by-products. Enter Marta Canga: your new, impeccably stylish, vegan-fashion adviser.
Canga was born in Spain, but she grew up in Brussels, Belgium, and now lives in London. The 26-year-old got her start online back in 2014 when she launched her own blog.
In an interview she posted to her YouTube Channel, she shared with viewers that she went vegan for health reasons back in 2015. Soon after, it occurred to her that although she was consuming vegan foods, she was not a vegan fashion consumer.
This realization inspired her first investigations into vegan and sustainable brands.
Canga thoroughly researches all of her content, and always goes the extra mile to explain why she promotes sustainable options over the harmful alternatives. She does the hard work of sifting through vegan fashion brands and then posts beautiful collections on her blog so you can find the best of the best all in one place.
While her blog mainly covers fashion, she dabbles in a range of subjects including beauty products, travel, and food.
Marta Canga may live in the U.K., but her Instagram is Parisian style-goals. She also regularly shouts out cool brands, people, and tips for sustainable dress in her captions.
Canga’s YouTube account discusses more fashion, her lifestyle, events she attends, and even recipes (her avocado pesto pasta is a staple of mine). She also has travel videos, so you can live vicariously through her as she jet-sets to cool places like Copenhagen.
As far as her personal style, in an interview with the blog Grander Marnier, Canga cites Olivia Palermo as her long-time style icon. She has also mentioned @cocobeautea as an account she loves to follow for outfit inspiration.
In this same interview, she said, “I follow not only sustainable/vegan fashion people but also mainstream ones to know what is fashionable, as I truly believe that people will only start shopping more consciously if clothes are accessible, fashionable and similar to what they know.”
With respect to what inspires her to do the work she does, Canga mused:
“So that other people who also love fashion find alternatives that are cruelty-free, that are maybe a bit more sustainable for the environment, that are a bit more animal-friendly. Things that, you know, can still make you feel beautiful,” she said.
The fast-fashion industry is Canga’s arch-nemesis, and her posts often seek not just to help her readers look chic and fabulous, but also educate them about where a product is coming from and how it’s made.
