As Britney Spears turns 35, Lifetime is celebrating by releasing photos of its upcoming TV biopic of her … and the social media reaction to it is “Toxic.”

The B Army, spearheaded by Twitter Queen Chrissy Teigen, has been quick to express displeasure. It seems to be driving fans “Crazy,” to quote another of the pop icon’s hits.

Much of the backlash is over the lack of resemblance the lead actress in “Britney,” Natasha Basset, has to Spears.

Teigen tweeted a photo of the Australian actress and co-star Clayton Chitty, who plays previous husband Kevin Federline, mocking the network’s casting choices.

Various other users seem to be in agreement with Teigen.

Someone even chimed in on how the K-Fed casting needs “Work B**ch.”

According to a press release for the film to be screened in February 2017, “Britney” will document the pop icon’s “rise to fame, fall from grace and eventual triumph and resurrection.”

However, when news of the movie’s production emerged, Britney’s publicist shared a statement revealing the star’s disapproval. “Britney Spears will not be contributing in any way, shape or form to the Lifetime biopic, nor does it have her blessing,” the statement said.

Basset, on the other hand, feels the film will surpass expectations, reports Elite Daily.

Although fans don’t seem to agree, there has certainly been a lot of interest in the movie stirred up and that could be good for ratings.

To quote Movie Pilot, “We’ll still be watching this deranged imagining the minute it comes out.”
