Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, was the first woman included on MTV’s Top MC List and she continues to climb the Billboard Top 100.
Everything from music collaborations to fashion to feminism, these ladies have it going on. Separate, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé are extremely powerful women. But together, that’s what we really call #flawless.

Here are five reasons we all need a little dose of Nicki and Bey.
When they join forces, these daring divas steal the show every time. This was especially true at the Tidal X 10/20 benefit concert in 2015. Between Nicki’s bumping rhymes and Bey’s powerful range, there was a whole lot of magic. Regarding the performance of these queens, Glamour Magazine commented, “The roar of cheers was deafening. They could have just stood together on stage and [done] nothing, and everyone would have walked away happy.”
When asked to describe the duo’s performance, Nicki Minaj told ET, “It was electrifying. The place went nuts.” Minaj went on to say that they were thrilled to link up for a show “because both of our fans have been threatening us online, saying that if we didn’t perform together, they were going to hunt us down.”
Well, when it results in such a jaw-dropping performance, we can’t say we blame the fans. Regardless of what stage they’re on, they walk it like they own it.
Their dance moves are stellar, the outfits are on-point and just look at that hair flip. When these partners in crime get together, the result is spellbinding. Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé embody femininity and strength simultaneously. The results are stunning.
In a world where women feel as though they have to compete with one another, Bey and Nicki’s relationship is a beautiful sight. The “Feelin’ Myself” music video gained massive popularity because of their honest portrayal of female friendship.
In the video, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé are doing what all girls do with their besties. We stuff our faces, get down to a good song and, above all, laugh until it hurts. For gender equality to exist, women need to love and uplift each other like Nicki and Bey.
Nicki Minaj told ET, “I feel like great women always raise the bar for each other and, so, it’s always great. I learn so much from her, and I genuinely like her. Whenever we smile on stage, it’s genuine.”
She went on to say, “I think it’s great for women in general.” We couldn’t agree more.
Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé are changing the game in the music industry, and it’s phenomenal. Beyoncé has won 22 Grammys, she’s one of the best selling artists in history and she has a net worth of over $350 million. Nicki Minaj has hit the Billboard Top 100 more than any other female artist, has a net worth of $70 million and has also accepted her fair share of awards.
Due to their commercial success as women in the music industry, they have become powerful role models. Nicki Minaj disclosed to Marie Claire that her and Bey’s collaborations go deeper than music.
In the interview, Minaj stated, “Every time Bey and I do something together, I see how women are inspired and it has nothing to do with how we look. It has to do with how we are owning who we are and telling other women you should be the boss of your own career.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
There are critics far and wide that comment on the wardrobe and dance moves of these ladies being and how they’re “too” risqué. Here’s the thing though – they don’t give a damn.
Despite the endless slut-shaming and disregard of their craft, Nicki and Bey haven’t changed a thing. They showcase that it’s okay to be a woman and openly express your sexuality. Who’s body is it again?
Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have both been accused of hypocrisy when it comes to feminism. Some claim that they aren’t “real” feminists because they present themselves in a way that appeals to men. Beyoncé, however, set the record straight in an interview with OUT when she addressed women owning their own bodies and the double standards that still exist.
In the words of the queen herself, “Men are free and women are not. That is crazy. The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist and a feminist – whatever you want to be – and still be a sexual being. It’s not mutually exclusive.” Well said, Bey.
Feminism isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some women feel empowered in a turtleneck and some prefer a body suit and stilettos. Women’s empowerment is about the freedom of choice. Bottom line, you can show some leg like Queen Bey or twerk it out like Nicki and it makes you no less of a feminist. Do you, girl.
Nicki Minaj addressed the hypocrisy behind how she is labeled. She commented, “If you speak up for yourself you’re a bitch. If you party too much, you’re a whore. Men don’t get called these things.” Minaj makes the important point that women are put under a microscope in a way men may not be. In her own way, she sets an example by never changing herself despite all the criticism she has received.
And also, it’s no wonder Beyoncé has become a feminist icon. During her world tour, she gave us the definition, “A feminist is a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes.” She brought it into perspective that feminism is not a dirty word.
To sum it up, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé make an amazing team. Their success helps encourage young women to be leaders. They also further the conversation about what it means to be feminist.
They take charge in their careers and they are not ashamed of their womanhood. Above all, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé show us that the best thing we can do as women is support one another.
Now that’s what we call girl power.
