Entity magazines makes a list of the five most fun things to do in the 2017 reboot of the 2006 video game, Prey.

“Prey,” released in 2006, was a game developed by Human Head Studios, steeped in Native American culture.

It was a first-person shooter with a main character that lived on a reservation. And the lead voice actors were both of indigenous descent. Talks of a sequel fell through when licenses changed hands, fans of the original game began to lose hope of seeing Prey on a newer console.

“Prey 2017” is a distinct departure from the original game. The concept of Cherokee culture, which was meant to be a through line in the planned series, was scrapped. The new developers, Arkane Studios, created an entirely new story based simply on the original game’s bare bones concept: A first-person shooter with aliens. While we may have lost the lore behind the first game:

There’s still plenty of fun things to do in Prey.

1 Recycling

What you say? How is recycling fun? Well, you can pick up what you might think is random trash around the game. Then, when you put them in the Recycler Machine these items turn into useful materials. Those materials allow you to create items that are essential to your survival in the game. If you like having a full arsenal, feed this beast.

2 Breaking Into Safes and Rooms

Breaking into safes and rooms is an incredibly important part of this game. Neuromods are hidden everywhere. You use them to upgrade Morgan Yu with alien abilities. The rooms also hold the information that adds to the story. Hacker or leverage skills will allow you to find your way in sometimes. But luckily, there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

3 Using Your Gloo Cannon to Get Places

There are plenty of hidden items all over the space station, Talos I. Humans scrambled to find safety when aliens attack. Unfortunately, most of them died anyway. And more unfortunately for you, they died in places that can be difficult to reach.

One of the first weapons you get in “Prey” is a Gloo cannon, and it is your best friend. You can use it against your foes, which you’ll see below. But another nifty use for the tool is building ways to get from A to B. And if you’re smart, you’ll be doing that a lot.

4 Freezing the Mimics In Odd Positions

For a while, the Gloo cannon is your tried and true ally against the aliens. The Mimic variety can take the shape of common items and ambush you anywhere. They’re weirdly flexible and end up in all manner of positions attacking you. Fortunately, you can stop them in their tracks with your glue gun. And the positions they end up in can give you a set of the giggles.

5 Turning Into Objects Yourself

Yes, you just saw that gif right. After he starts gaining alien abilities, Morgan can turn into small items like that coffee cup. He uses this ability to get into tiny rooms he can’t break into otherwise. This gives Morgan access to an array of items and Neuromods he wouldn’t have otherwise. Plus, you get to roll around as a coffee cup.

“Prey” was released on May 5 of 2017. It’s available on Xbox, PS4 and PC. What’s next for the game is up in the air since the Arkane founder and director of “Prey” quit the company. But instead of waiting on a potential sequel’s fate, get into “Prey,” which you can pick up at GameStop for around $60.
