When “Scandal” returns to TV next month, the smash hit series will welcome a new cast member. Zoe Perry, the real life daughter of Jeff Perry, who plays vice-presidential candidate Cyrus Beene in the political thriller, is joining the show’s sixth season.
The Perrys will become the latest in a short list of father-daughter duos to act together on screen. But whether her character has a connection to Cyrus is unclear because everything about the new character, even her name, is staying a secret for now.
Zoe’s mother is another familiar face. Perry is the daughter of former “Roseanne” actress Laurie Metcalf. This will be the third Shonda Rhimes-produced drama Zoe has starred in, having previously apperared in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice.” She has an extensive background in theater.
“Scandal,” which stars Kerry Washington as crisis manager Olivia Pope, is back on ABC from Jan. 19 and opens with the results of the presidential election being announced.

In this 2007 apocalyptic drama, Will played the last survivor of a devastating plague who remembered his dead daughter in flashback scenes.
The 2009 big screen spin-off from the hit TV series brought back together the real life father and daughter and the other main cast of the Disney Channel series.
This little-seen 2016 horror comedy launched Lily-Rose onto the big screen and was helped by a cameo from her superstar dad, acting under layers of makeup.
Shiloh made a brief appearance as a young child in Brad’s arms in this 2008 critical and commercial hit.
