Sexist Dutch game show “Neem Je Zwemspullen Mee” or “Bring Your Bathing Suit” objectifies a woman as it asks male contestants to guess if her breasts are real or fake.
A Dutch game show is taking some heat this week for its obnoxiously sexist challenges.
One segment on “Neem Je Zwemspullen Mee” or “Bring Your Bathing Suit” features four male contestants trying to guess if a woman’s breasts are real or fake.
To set the scene, four guys are literally sitting on a stage, staring down some poor woman’s chest. Meanwhile, the woman silently stands on a small, rotating platform in front of them. They’re basically acting out every woman’s nightmare.
I mean, talk about objectification. She’s standing on a rotating platform… like a car at a car show. And men are just all up in her personal space, laser-focusing on her breasts. Shiver.
Of course, upon further inspection the entire show appears to be an effort to shock and offend. Another segment features a woman standing on a platform while men guess if she’s “fat or pregnant.” This is a real thing.
But don’t worry – they’re more than happy to dehumanize men, too. The pilot had contestants guessing if a man was Chinese or Japanese.
And, as is the case with most wildly offensive things in life, the creators don’t find it to be offensive at all. They claim the program “shows how you can go wrong if someone evaluates his or her appearance.”
A statement released by Kro-Ncrv, the company behind the show, says, “through these satirical settings, we laugh off all forms of prejudices.” Uh, okay. Whatever you have to tell yourself.
