Since the dawn of flirtation, men have been utterly confused about how to tell if a girl likes you.
How can you tell over text? Is there a quiz on the subject? Is flirtatious body language the same as it was in middle school? It can be pretty difficult how to tell if a girl likes you, mostly because all women show affection in different ways.
To combat this confusion, we’ve brought you some primary sources. We’ve compiled a few interviews from the women in the office on the subject, and they were more than happy to help.
Women have been told all sorts of complicated formulas when it comes to texting a guy back. Wait the amount of time he waited and multiply it by two, wait three days before texting anything, etc.
Thus, many girls just gave up and set a timer on their phone so they’re not tempted to ruin their aloof persona. If she’s thinking that hard about text reaction time, she’s definitely interested.
“I’ll match his style of texting. Like if he uses punctuation, so will I.” – Kendall, 22.
Pay attention to how you use grammar in your texts. Are you a stickler for proper grammar, or are you more casual, with one-word answers? A girl will try to match your style to an extent. So if you send something like:
Angela: I’ve been awaiting our time together throughout most of the morn. Please refresh my forgetful mind… at what time were we planning to reconvene?
She won’t send back “7:00” if she’s interested in you. But if you send something like
Hey wat time r we meeting again thx
It’s not weird for her to just send back “7:00”. Just like guys, a girl doesn’t want to seem too snobby or sloppy before you get to know them… they want to avoid those extremes if possible.
Also, if you’re a guy, don’t send either of the examples we provided. Those are awful.
Memes and gifs are the most foolproof way to tell if someone has been thinking about you throughout the day. Either she came across it at work and it reminded her of you, or she spent hours curating the perfect caption on Gifmaker.
This also shows that she’s comfortable with you. Now, gifs are also a common language in platonic friendships, so just gif-sending alone is not necessarily a sign of romantic attraction.

There’s a reason you feel hilarious when you hang out with her. Puns, impersonations, you name it — she’s busting a gut. But this doesn’t mean you’re not funny — it means you’re cute enough to compensate for your lack of timing.
Or you’re actually funny, but she laughs the loudest in the group. Girls know that people will want to spend time with someone who thinks they’re hilarious — we definitely know what we’re doing.

This is one is an easy check. If you and the girl you’re interested in are talking in a group, look at her when someone else is speaking. Is she totally involved in the main speaker, or waiting for someone else to talk?
She might be enthusiastic to your contribution, seeming even more receptive to your side comments than the main thread of conversation. If she’s zeroed in whenever you speak a word, that might be a good sign. Or she’s just a good listener, so this isn’t necessarily foolproof.
So we hope this cleared things up a bit. Again, all girls are different, so a woman might do all of these things and still just consider you a friend. Our best advice is to ask a woman how to tell if a girl likes you, and she’ll probably be more than happy to help.
