Entity explains how climate change might have an unlikely advocate: Ivanka Trump.

Businesswoman Ivanka Trump could potentially be the nation’s new climate change champion. Seriously.

Donald Trump’s eldest daughter wants to make climate change one of her signature issues. That’s despite the fact her father has dismissed the problem as a hoax.

Ivanka is currently in the early stages of exploring how she can use her spotlight to speak out against human-made climate change, a close source told Politico.

Since becoming the President-elect, much of America has attempted to grapple with Donald Trump’s growing transition team, especially climate contrarian Myron Ebell’s role as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Under the Trump administration, Barack Obama’s efforts in the last eight years to establish the United States as a global leader will likely be threatened. However, climate change supporters are now turning for help to Ivanka Trump, who is positioning herself as a bridge to liberals and moderates outraged by her father’s policy positions, reports Politico.

Early last week, a new Instagram account called @dear_ivanka was created as a way to direct concerns about Trump’s administration. The account posts various glamour shots pulled from Ivanka’s Instagram page and pairs the photos with captions asking her to recognize the fear and anxiety that has spurred from her father’s victory.

One of the posts reads, “Your father’s choice to head up the EPA, Myron Ebell, is a fanatical anti-science, anti-environmentalist climate change denier. I’m afraid for what’s at stake.”

A more recent post from the Instagram account addresses the first daughter, reminding her that she can bring changes to her father’s policies.

And on Nov. 28, a group of downtown Manhattan artists congregated outside the Puck Building, where Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner own an apartment, under “Dear Ivanka” banners.

Aside from holding up signs about their concerns, the group also composed a formal letter that reads, “Because you are an official member of your father’s transition team, we wanted to appeal to your rationality, and your commitment to protecting the rights of all Americans, especially women and children … As your father has said on countless occasions, you are the one who really has his ear.”

Ivanka’s close relationship with the President-elect leaves environmentalists hopeful that her ideas about fighting climate change will not fall on deaf ears.

“The issues she’s talking about are ones she’s always talked about,” said a source close to Ivanka. “These are totally consistent with what she’s developed with her brand. She is playing a critical role in being able to have issues that moderate and liberal women care about – and creating a bridge to the other side.”
