Who is Liz Dee?

You may be wondering who this Liz Dee is? She is a business woman whose not only satisfying our sweet tooth but making the world a sweeter place. Liz is co-president of the family-owned candy company Smarties. Remember those colorful sugary tablets?

When Liz took over the family business, consumers began asking if Smarties were vegan. Not knowing much about veganism, Liz began her investigation into the movement. Turns out Smarties are vegan and after doing research Liz decided she wanted to be vegan too. Liz’s commitment to veganism inspired her husband and family to follow in her footsteps.

Vegan Lady Boss

Liz is the founder of Vegan Lady Boss (VLB.) Back in 2016, she had the idea to connect and empower vegan women. Her organization brings together these animal-loving professionals to help them get ahead in their careers and businesses. 

Vegan Lady Boss’s mission is to support and empower vegan woman to change the world and fight for animal rights. It is a global network of vegan women who connect online and in person. Any vegan woman is welcome to join. The site also states that “the boss” in Vegan Lady Boss doesn’t refer to managing people but to being the boss of your life!

Currently Vegan Lady Boss has 11 chapters, including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Colorado Springs. The number of members in each location varies, with the New York City meetings attracting 60 to 80 women ages 21 to 70. If you’re interested in joining but there isn’t a VLB group nearby, you can apply to start your own chapter in your area.

Over the past two years, VLB has seen a number of successful professional collaborations between women as a result of being part of Vegan Boss Lady. When speaking about how the network has grown so quickly and resonated with so many women, Liz said, “I created it because I wanted it in my life, and it turned out I wasn’t the only one seeking this kind of community.”

Animal Rights Activist

Along with being a co-president of Smarties Liz is the CEO of Baleine & Bjorn Capital. Baleine & Bjorn Capital is an investment company that is committed to supporting companies that are creating innovative solutions to outdated animal products.

Liz also uses her Instagram account to champion animal rights.  From posts of her with her dog @sandypawspup, rescue animals, vegan food and of course Smarties she is one interesting and fun woman to follow.
