Chinese company DJI released its Mavic Pro drone in the tech world today.

Drones have become a trending topic in modern culture, sparking debate over diverse legal and ethical concerns. Like other hobbyist drones, DJI’s device uses an embedded GPS system and attached camera to fly over an area and take photos.

According to DJI, “The DJI Mavic Pro is a small yet powerful drone that turns the sky into your creative canvas easily and without worry, helping you make every moment an aerial moment.” The newest product has added a selfie camera to focus on and snap shots of the user. As The Verge‘s video above shows, the Mavic Pro design is considerably smaller and more advanced than their last released drone, the Phantom 4.

DJI’s new device provides heavy competition for GoPro’s upcoming Karma drone. The new surprise release has had a drastic negative impact on GoPro, a popular U.S. tech business. According to Wall Street Journal, “Shares of GoPro fell 4.6% to $16.15 in afternoon trading Tuesday in New York.”

The Mavic Pro drone is now available for preorder through the DJI website and GoPro’s Karma drone will be released on October 23.
