ENTITY reports on whether we can have 100% renewable energy.

The answer is yes, we can. Of course, that would not be anytime soon, but it is possible. World Future Council has a policy handbook that guides you through achieving 100% renewable energy (RE) and the benefits of doing so.

ENTITY’s put together a summary of some of the key points addressed in the handbook.

Benefits

1 Cost savings

This will reduce electricity and energy costs as well as increase savings on fossil fuel imports.

2 New economic activity

Different sources of revenue will be created for both businesses and citizens. New jobs would be created with the implementation of new energy sources, as new materials and software will be used.

3 More resilience

With RE, the cost of fossil fuels and other external factors would have less of an affect on the economy.

Recommendations for Policy Makers to Achieve 100% renewable energy (RE).

  • RE must be a top priority. It’ll be easier to meet energy needs when more structures are dedicated to making energy more efficient.
  • Channel renewable energy to a greater focus on use in heating and cooling.
  • Allow for citizen engagement in the development of a new energy infrastructure, which would make more people supportive of it. Educate the public to build support for aiming at 100% RE.
  • Collaboration is necessary across not only different government levels, but all levels of society. Different policy areas must be combined in order for RE to be a success.

Make sure to check out the handbook by World Future Council and visit The Solutions Project for information by state, as well as international info, that shows benefits of renewable energy and the best way of getting there.
