ENTITY describes how to grow your social media presence.

In order to successfully become a social media influencer, you’re going to need to know a few basics. Here’s ENTITY’s list of three things you’ll need to grow your social media presence.

1 Find a Niche

A niche is a specified “focus,” which usually involves a popular topic or community on social media. Instagram is evolving more and more towards niche-based features, along with YouTube and other content platforms. You can see this in the Explore page, where Instagram recommends niche-based channels to specific users.

In order to grow your social media presence, niches like beauty, travel and animals are essential. Without this level of consistency from post to post, visitors might not know what to expect. When someone follows an account outside their social circle, they usually follow for a very narrow, specific interest. If a travel account suddenly started posting fashion photos, followers might be upset.

So pick a niche and stick to it! If you’d like to integrate two or more interests, it would probably be more beneficial to make a second account and keep the niches separate.

2 Develop a Theme

Themes are also super important throughout your content. A theme revolves around consistency. You don’t need very complex Instagram or Tumblr graphics in order to make a theme; it could be as simple as using the same filter or shots in every post.

These themes allow people to become familiar with your content and associate your account with those elements. It’s why you might associate some famous red and white colors with a can of Coca Cola. Utilize this aesthetic consistency to make your account memorable and attractive to followers.

3 Optimize Your Timing

You’re not likely to get a lot of reach or engagement at 3 AM, so finding the best Instagram posting times for your account is extremely necessary. Many sources go with Monday mornings as the best day and time to post on Instagram, but it’s important to develop your own specific schedule. You can do this by testing certain times out and measuring their “reach.”

For more advice on developing your Instagram schedule, check out ENTITY’s tips here.

These are the three main elements you need in order to grow your social media presence. While it is possible to find success on social media through other ways, it’s pretty impossible to do so without utilizing the advice above. So start picking a niche, developing a theme and creating your schedule. We believe in you!
