Entity shares five women who run the business world and help the environment at the same time.

Did you know that you, as a woman, have the power to change the environment? According to an article published by Harvard in 2009, “Women now drive the world economy.”  Globally speaking, we control $20 trillion in annual consumer spending. In addition, women make the majority of financial decisions in the home, including the home assets like banking or investing, which can particularly affect the environment.

According to Maximum Impact, “This wave of wealth is set to land in the laps of female investors who have been shown to have a more positive attitude toward social investing than their male counterparts.”  Women who controls the wealth can make the most change.

Here are five inspirational women who are doing that in the name of the environment:

1 BRIGIT HELMS OF MULTILATERAL INVESTMENT FUND.

She is the general manager of  Multilateral Investment Fund, which invests in environmental non-profits such as the National Audubon Society, an environmental organization dedicated to conservation. Helms has also worked with banks and telecommunications companies to build new business models to reach low-income clients and improve economies.

2 NATASHA GOLDSTEIN OF MCE SOCIAL CAPITAL.

Currently, she is the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of MCE Social Capital. MCESC is a loan service company that gives loans to lower-income families in order to help them improve their lives and make a name for themselves.

3 CAROLINE MASON OF ESMEE FAIRBAIRN.

Mason is currently the Chief Executive of Esmee Fairbairn, a foundation dedicated to impact investing. The foundation has made investments in environmental organizations such as Greenpeace. Mason has also co-founded a social investing firm called “Investing for Good.”
