Entity recaps as stars reveal their coming out stories.

Just like other members of the LGBTQ community, celebrities that do not identify as heterosexual find themselves coming out of the closet. Here are a few stars who have done just that by sharing their coming out stories:

1 Ellen Page
This incredible actress bravely stood in front of hundreds of people and thousands watching online to come out of the closet at the Human Right’s Campaign’s Time to Thrive Conference in 2014. The NY Daily News reported that she told the audience, “I’m here today because I am gay. I am tired of hiding and I am tied of lying by omission.”

2 Kristen Stewart
The Twilight super star was linked with her costar Robert Pattinson for quite some time. However after their split, The Advocate wrote that the actress was actually outed by her mother who referred to her daughter as bisexual. The actress confirmed her mothers words by telling people “Google me, I’m not hiding” She has since been linked to men and women alike and current was seen out with her ex, Alicia Cargile.

3 Robin Roberts
One of the most recognizable Good Morning America hosts decided to tell the world about her longtime girlfriend in a very casual light. TV Guide stated that the morning host wrote a post on Facebook commemorating the end of 2013 and thanking her “longtime girlfriend, Amber” along with her friends and family for the amazing year. Three years later, the two lovebirds are still going strong.

4 Ellen Degeneres
America’s favorite funny women, Ellen Degeneres decided to come out by writing in into her sitcom called “Ellen” in April 1997. As Wonderwall reported, the episode was followed up by an Interview with Time magazine where she said; “I never wanted to be the spokesperson for the gay community. Ever. I did it for my own truth.” Today, she has become what she says she isn’t, being openly supportive of all LGBTQ members on her daytime talk show “Ellen”.

5 Raven-Symoné
The Disney child actress turned The View cohost Raven-Symoné decided to share her true self in 2013 with a 49 character tweet that read, ”I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.” This post on social media came after the decision to legalize gay marriage across the US. The following year, PopSugar wrote that the actress told Oprah that she didn’t want to be branded as gay, saying in an interview, “I want to be labeled as a human who loves humans.”
