Waiting for public transportation is never fun, and sometimes taxi rides can get way too expensive. So if you don’t want to spend the majority of your savings on trip fares, you may want to try these alternatives.
Of course, some of these options aren’t for everyone. But if you’re looking for a little adventure while traveling, the following may be worth a shot.
Make a new Uber account with your grandma’s (or any other family member’s) phone number if they don’t happen to have one already. By using a new phone number to register for Uber, you can get a free ride with the new user credit code.
Set up a tinder date while you’re waiting to de-board. Make it romantic by seeing if this potential hottie is willing to be the perfect gentleman by picking you up from the airport.
Remember to be safe, though! Tell a friend about what you’re doing, and then go for it.
Make friends on your plane ride, and then figure out how they are getting to their final destination. Then inquire if you can get a ride with them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t — it really just depends on how much you bonded during the flight.
If you don’t manage to score a full free ride, making friends could still be a great way to cheapen your fare by splitting a ride. Yes, we know it’s not exactly free, but it definitely saves you money.
Pretend you are checking in at a hotel or renting a car near the location by your final destination. Drivers for these businesses usually frequent the airport so you can try convincing them to hop on for some free transportation.
If you had an unpleasant trip ask the airline to comp you for any inconvenience. More than likely they will be willing to compensate due to the bad press airlines are currently facing thanks to their less-than-commendable customer service.
Start big with a free airline credit, then de-escalate the situation by requesting a simple free transportation voucher.
Some of these may be a little too … adventurous for some. So, just choose the free transportation option that best matches your personality.
