Pumpkin spice...is coming.
The pumpkin spice latte has emerged earlier than expected. Fall is 29 days away and it’s still over 90 degrees F, but Starbucks still thought would be a good idea to bring the autumn staple back soon.
According to Fortune, Starbucks is getting ready to release the ready-to-drink pumpkin spice latte in the coming weeks. The pumpkin spice-flavored ground coffee will also be hitting the stores around the same time.
Previously, the pumpkin spice latte was only available in the fall, so its early arrival has caused quite a frenzy.
Need proof?
Here are ten Reddit reactions we found about the pumpkin spice latte from coffee lovers, Starbucks haters and baristas.
“It’s never too early for pumpkin, I love it!”
“As a PSL fan, IT’S TOO EARLY FOR IT! xD”
“Call me a stereotypical white girl all you want, I’m stoked. Also a little mad I quit before I could have a PSL every day for free – though my waist line is thanking me.”
“This is really, really lame. It’s not that serious. It’s a latte y’all, and one that’s not even that good (no offense for everyone who enjoys it).”
“I don’t mind making them or drinking them (breve is the only way to go in my book), but the hype is ridiculous. Lol. I love when someone comes in and ‘pretends’ to look at the menu and orders a PSL like a deer in the headlights because we all knew they would. Haha.”
“It’s been overdone. What used to be a nice seasonal treat is now a full-on ‘pumpkin spice’ onslaught. There was actually a pumpkin shortage last year (at least in the US).
“Like any fad/trend, there’s going to be a backlash. But that doesn’t keep the trend from being delicious! (Not a pumpkin spice latte guy myself, but pumpkin bread/pumpkin pie is amazing.)”
“Same here, first sip and I was a goner. It has become a horrible fixation, this pumpkin spice phenomena. It is everywhere; I want to purchase everything with the word pumpkin in it. I’ve gone full white girl.”
“I so, so want to try it but I’ll be honest, I’m scared of going down the road to full white girl. My muddy boots and black coffee will turn into leggings and PSL like in Cinderella! But worse! And the coffee ladies will laugh because they were white girl witches all along … My imagination goes a little too far.”
“Tried my first pumpkin latte a few weeks ago. I didn’t like it; it’s basically cinnamon. Tbh I didn’t really know what to expect – it just wasn’t that.”
“Pumpkin spice is catnip for white girls.”
What can we say? The early return of the pumpkin spice latte has definitely made an entrance.
Happy pumpkin spice latte season!
