How @heartprintandstyle is revolutionizing the influencer realmIf you’re a woman who has struggled with your own personal ideas of physical shape, beauty, hair, or something remotely like that even just a little bit…then you can relate to the fact that the world of fashion and beauty has been setting unrealistic standards for women to follow. Through media publications and heavily regulated platforms, we have been fed information about what we should look like, dress like, talk like, etc. from a very young age. Instagram influencer Vivi Nmezi, who is better-known as @heartprintandstyle has decided to give us her own take on this phenomenon.
The American-Nigerian blogger started her Instagram empire in 2010 when she was in between jobs as a way to keep herself occupied, little did she know that her blog would spark what would shortly become her permanent career and lifestyle. What makes Vivi different from other plus-size bloggers? Well, she offers a dynamic voice and vibrant content. Not many influencers narrate their blogs and give background to their content, but this is only one area where Vivi is a game-changer. In a world where social acceptance and diversity is heavily on the rise, Vivi is no stranger to speaking her truth at all times and situations, through her blog she has challenged beauty standards and advocated for better representation within the industry.
Not only does she have a cool boss-bitch personality, but Vivi also uses her platform as a means to discuss issues pertaining to beauty standards and confidence in diversity. Being a plus-size influencer gives her an opportunity to showcase acceptance around concepts that have been historically conforming to women. Beauty standards that pertain to certain figures and skin tones that do not consider ranges of ethnicities or personality are existing problems within the industry that many have risen against. In her journey to becoming an influencer, she says that the most rewarding aspect of it is being able to engage with her passion for style and fashion.

Throughout her blog, Vivi indulges in the act of uplifting women and focusing on empowerment through self-love. She injects positive energy into each blog post that does not only uplifts but educates her viewers on a variety of topics and discussions that are both intellectual as well as entertaining. She does so in curating pictures that can be weaved into stories, and because she treats her blog as a brand that she is extremely passionate about, this works well for her audience.
What is she doing differently to defy beauty standards? She relates styles and looks to how they can fit different body types, not only cool but definitely the definition of badass.
Vivi is one of the select few that are a part of the plus-size influencer’s community. With her representation and advocacy for the group, we can come to recognize the scale of struggles placed upon women in societies from systems that target not only their bodies but their standards of identity as well. In the words of Vivi, “just create your own path and focus on what makes you, you.”
