Entity explains why we'l miss the Obama-Biden love.Via @WhiteHouse Instagram

The country isn’t just saying goodbye to President Obama, it’s also saying farewell to the Obama-Biden bromance.

To top off the eight years the pair has spent together in power,  President Obama surprised his right hand man, Vice President Joseph R. Biden on Jan. 12 with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

“To know Joe Biden is to know love without pretense, service without self-regard and to live life fully,” Obama said during the ceremony as Biden wiped tears from his eyes.

And as their term together ends, Biden isn’t the only one with tears in his eyes. Much of the rest of the country is crying too.

So in celebration of the beautiful friendship they’ve shared with the nation, here are seven reasons Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s relationship is a bromance for the ages.

1 Joe is like Obama’s big brother.

It’s been confirmed by Michelle Obama herself that Joe is “the big brother” the president never had. Barack finds “real joy” in spending time with Joe, says Michelle in an interview with People.

And although their term is almost over, Obama noted in his Presidential Medal of Freedom speech that he and Joe will “forever be [bound] as a family.”

2 They genuinely respect one another.

In just the way the two talk about each other, you already know that their relationship is founded on reciprocated respect.

Obama speaks about Biden with high regard and praises him for his accomplishments and positive contributions to the country. According to Obama, Biden is “the best Vice President America has ever had.”

And in the same way, Biden holds Obama with high esteem. Joe not only calls Barack a man of “integrity” and “decency” he also believes that he is “remarkable.”

“I can say I was part of the journey of a remarkable man who did things for this country,” Biden said as he accepted the award.

3 Just look at the way they look at each other.

Honestly, this needs no description.

4 They count on each other to keep it real.

Although the Internet has come up with plenty of memes to narrate their relationship, one thing is clear: the two look to each other for advice. Through the eight years Obama has been president, Biden has been his go-to counsel and his trusted friend.

“Behind the scenes, Joe’s candid, honest counsel has made me a better president and a better commander-in-chief,” Obama said at the ceremony. “From the situation room to our weekly lunches to our huddles after everybody else has cleared out of the room, he’s been unafraid to give it to me straight. Even if we disagree. In fact, especially if we disagree.”

5 They spend a great deal of time together.

When they’re not running down the White House halls side by side, Barack and Joe are also going on regular golfing trips, eating ice cream or having their weekly lunches together.

6 They find strength in their friendship.

The two know that no matter what happens, they can always count on each other.

“Mister President, you know as long as there’s breath in me I’ll be there for you. My whole family will be there for you,” the Vice President said upon accepting his award. “And I know it is reciprocal.”

7 They have friendship bracelets.

Because what better way to celebrate your best friend’s birthday than to get personalized friendship bracelets?

But beyond the colorful bracelets and the charming way Biden looks at Obama across a room, the two have a camaraderie that’s palpable. It’s clear the Obama-Biden friendship extends past their government roles. It’s one imbued with a genuine respect and fondness for one another. And that, on its own, is something worth missing.
