ENTITY reports on leap day

Leap Day isn’t an official holiday, but it definitely should be.

Even though we don’t get time off for Halloween, an official holiday, we still celebrate it. So we should start celebrating Leap Day, right?

Unfortunately, there aren’t any official Leap Day celebrations, so we decided to come up with some of our own.

1 Celebrate a Leap Day birthdays.

You don’t even have to be a leap day baby or know anyone who is. You can make “Happy Leap Day” banners and buy a cake and a piñata. You can celebrate the day the way you would a normal birthday party. It’s someone’s birthday, right?

Out of respect to the poor Leap Day babies who only get to celebrate their actual birthdays every four years, the entire world should be celebrating with them. Also, sometimes just one birthday a year isn’t enough.

2 Throw a “30 Rock” Leap Day Party.

“30 Rock” did it best with their Leap Day episode, so why not follow their guidelines? Someone can dress up as Leap Day William and give out candy. You can throw a giant mansion party like Thad’s party. Either way, you can’t go wrong because according to “30 Rock’s” Leap Day episode, Leap Day isn’t real life. So basically, what happens on Leap Day stays with… Leap Day.

3 Check something off your bucket list.

If you don’t have a bucket list, make a bucket list. You get an extra day every four years, so why not do something different and drastic? Go bungee jumping or plan a trip. Your “I don’t have time” excuse doesn’t work on Leap Day. Don’t let this extra day go to waste.

4 Create your own tradition

Leap Day only comes around every four years, so create a tradition. This way, you have something to look forward to every Leap Day. Whether it’s taking a day trip with friends or getting black out drunk, you can start something everyone will enjoy. That’s the beauty of Leap Day, it’s not a normal day so don’t spend it like one.

5 Have a “Treat Yourself” day.

Why not dedicate an entire day to just spoiling yourself? If you can take the day off work, then do it. Let’s be real, your 40 hours per week job is actually 60 hours per week, and you’re not getting paid extra for Leap Day.

So take the day off and treat yourself to a relaxing day doing whatever makes you happiest. Buy that outfit you’ve been looking at, take that trip you’ve been wanting to take or go to that fancy rooftop restaurant you’ve been dying to go to. You’re probably working hard every other day of the year, you deserve at least one day to splurge on yourself. Leap Day is the perfect excuse to take care of yourself.

We’ve all said, “There aren’t enough hours in a day.” But Leap Day is the extra 24 hours we’ve all been desperately needing. This is the time to catch up on everything you’ve been missing out on.

We get an extra 24 hours every four years, so you have to either go big or stay home.
