Entity explains how to be happy learn to appreciate your life.

For most of us, perfection is the goal. It’s always in reach, but we’re not quite there. You may have found the perfect job, the perfect boyfriend, and have a great place to come home to, but something is still always missing. The grass is always greener, right?

Let me tell you, that no matter what, you will always feel just under perfection. And that’s okay, because perfection doesn’t actually exist. Animals don’t look for perfection; you don’t see your dog trying to find a new owner because you’re cool but not the woman of their dreams. Dogs are always happy with what they’ve got (unless you’re eating in front of them, they’re probably not happy about that). But you get the point. It’s our wacky human brains that have given us the idea that we can be perfectly happy if only we had this, or didn’t have to deal with that.

Perfection is something that comes in moments. It’s not a lifestyle. It cannot be maintained and that’s okay because if you’re life was always perfect, you wouldn’t even notice how great you had it anymore. The only way you can really experience the highs in life is by also experiencing the lows.

So you may be thinking you hate your job, or you can’t stand your roommate, and if you could just change one thing then you’d find happiness, but you’re wrong. The actual secret to happiness is to accept the imperfections in your life and focus instead on what you do have. You may be thinking, it’s impossible to have it all – a great job, great home, great relationship – but if you’re always thinking this way then nothing will ever be enough, even if you have a pretty good job, a pretty good home, and a pretty good relationship. If instead of thinking that with just a few changes you could have it all, look around and see for yourself that you already do! Love what you have and your “problems” look a lot smaller… and way more manageable. Unless you’re starving and without a home, you already have it all. Now, appreciate it.
