ENTITY explains how to have an Instagram theme.

If you’re new as an Instagram influencer, you might be confused about the idea of having an Instagram theme. What is that, anyway? ENTITY explains why learning how to have an Instagram theme is easier than you may think.

What is an Instagram Theme?

Many people, including me, mistakenly associate Instagram themes with feeds like Jaden Smith’s account, which features strictly ordered rows and graphics. But Instagram themes are actually a lot simpler than that.

In essence, these themes are really about a consistent pattern. Whether this pattern is a certain color palette, filter, border, photography angle or texture is up to the Instagrammer.

In general, however, there are two main ways that influencers achieve Instagram themes. One way is what I’ve already mentioned, where someone uses a very strict and rigid pattern of graphics and content to make up their feed.

Another way is through very specific filters and edits. This is particularly popular through VSCO.

How to Have an Instagram Theme

Here are the different ways you can set an Instagram theme for yourself.

1 Choose a Filter

That’s it. Choose a filter, any filter, from whatever filter-providing service you’d like. Then use it on every single one of your posts. This is the easiest way to learn how to have an Instagram theme.

Many people use this approach, although most tend to go one step further. The people that simply choose a filter and upload tend to use VSCO filters, which are considered very fresh, light and professional.

2 Choose a Filter and Set Adjustments

If you’re willing to put in a little more time and energy, you can also tinker with other features to adjust your photos to your perfect theme. This could include adjusting the clarity, texture, color temperature, tint, contrast, exposure and saturation of your posts.

You’ll find that most suggestions for Instagram themes online use this format. They tend to state a filter, then any adjustments made to the features listed above. Once again, most of these themes are made through the VSCO application.

3 Follow a Step-by-Step Process

Many influencers use multiple different apps to edit their photos and consistently follow certain steps to achieve their perfect Instagram look. Besides VSCO, popular applications include Snapseed, A Color Story and Afterlight.

4 Use Graphics

If you really want to go wild with your Instagram theme, you could use various graphics to implement a pattern. The Preview App and Canva are both great resources for designing these photo dividers to create a very specifically themed pattern.

From easiest to most complicated, those are ways to make a theme. As you can see, learning how to have an Instagram theme is as simple as using the same filter each time.

So don’t worry! An Instagram theme may be essential, but it’s not always complicated. Don’t be afraid to start.
