‘Sesame Street’ will be adding a new character to their cast starting on April 10th. Julia will be the first Muppet who is on the spectrum for Autism. ‘Sesame Street’ is hoping this will be a step in the right direction towards normalizing the conversation about autism among families. Working towards making all children feel accepted and loved, ‘Sesame Street’ is venturing into territory that very few shows have gone before. Julia is moderately impacted by her autism and will regularly cope with things like social anxiety, sensitivity to noise, and mild panic-attacks.
This is a truly ground-breaking moment for the autistic community, and our society as a whole, we can’t wait to welcome Julia to the ‘Sesame Street’ family!
