This year’s MAGIC convention showcased the upcoming styles of fall of 2012. Many designers flaunted some high fashion with an environmentally friendly flare. Sierra Club Green Home found a few stand out collections at MAGIC that we can’t wait to share with you. Read on for eco friendly fashion!

Frock: Natural Luxury

Frock Los Angeles is a ready-to-wear collection that goes beyond the normal offerings of eco-fashion. Frock”s collections are made with a signature jersey blend of bamboo, soy, and certified organic cotton. They are made with only organic materials, and the colors are all derived from vegetable dyes.

Frock styles reflect current trends while still holding a timeless appeal. Its designs have been seen on the red carpet and on some of Hollywood’s most recognized names.

“We want you to feel the luxury of our fabrics and know that it”s eco-conscious throughout,” casino says co-founder Victoria Tik.

RYU: Organic Activewear

Respect Your Universe (aka RYU) is a new company specializing in performance wear. Their Activewear is comprised of up to 90 percent organic or recycled materials. Since their launch in 2011, RYU has become an official event sponsor of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The men’s line is currently available online and the women’s line is scheduled to debut in the fall of 2012. RYU makes pants, shirts and many accessories with organic cotton, recycled polyester, and/or bamboo.

Quiet Clothing: Recycled Fabrics

Maureen Dougherty founded Quiet Clothing with the mission of creating a sustainable apparel line with a contemporary edge. The line is made from eco-friendly fabrics including hemp and tencel. She also uses factory scraps, vintage fabric, and overstock textiles. All Quiet products are also made in the USA. The spring/summer collection boasts a variety of soft shirts and dresses in spring colors and lightweight fabrics. Quiet Clothing is cut and sewn in San Francisco.

Fashions of the Future?

Green fashion is still definitely in the minority, and local department stores rarely feature a large selection of brands with a conscience. What’s more, the price point for organic fair-trade collections can sometimes cause a bit of sticker shock.

Price will always be an issue until more companies and designers are committed to the idea of maintaining both unique and innovative fashions that don’t harm the earth or take advantage of factory workers and the farmers growing the fibers. Until then, Sierra Club Green Home will stay on the hunt for everything natural and fair trade to fill your closet and ease your mind.
