Sue visits Old Mud Creek Farm in the Hudson Valley and gets a lesson in hemp farming from its manager, Ben Dobson. He describes the difference between hemp and marijuana (hint: hemp can’t be used to get high), and describes a few of the 25,000 uses for hemp including: health supplements and oils, eco-friendly textiles and clothing, a replacement for concrete, tree-free paper, energy storage and bio-fuel. In addition, hemp plants also draw toxins out from the soil – making it a perfect cover crop that can restore soil health while still generating income for the farmer. Industrial hemp is a win for both the environment and the economy!
