Entity explains the best ways to stop dizziness.

Remember squealing while riding a roller coaster or doing cartwheels as a child? You didn’t mind the spinning feeling while you were having fun, but when it strikes you at work all you wan to do is learn how to stop dizziness.

The good news? A few simple home remedies can easily make make dizziness nothing more than a flashback. So if you’re feeling lightheaded, motion sick or just plain dizzy, keep reading for six safe ways to get you back to get your feet back on the ground.

1 Stop dizziness and sit it out.

Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing at all. When you’re feeling dizzy, sit down (in a preferably still seat) for several minutes with your head tucked between your knees. If putting your head between your knees makes you even dizzier, just glue your butt to the bench until you feel better.

2 Drink dizziness away…

…with water, that is! Water is your friend and when you forget that, dehydration can trigger nausea or dizziness. So grab a glass and take small sips to hydrate. To help prevent this problem in the future, invest in a reusable water bottle to take with you to work. But don’t act like a lost traveler who just discovered an oasis in the desert! Drink water slowly and in moderation – too much could cause other problems, like feeling sick or even throwing up.

3 Take deep breaths.

If you’re not getting enough oxygen in your blood, you could start to become dizzy. Taking deep breaths that your yoga instructor would be proud of is especially important if you’re in higher altitudes or exercising. So take a chill pill and take a moment to deeply inhale and exhale.

4 Eye on the prize.

It’s easy to get motion-sickness dizziness during travel, especially if you’re driving on winding roads or reading during a road trip. When dizziness starts ruining your travel plans, try staring at something immobile until you start feeling better. What to look at? On a roadtrip, this could be the dancing hula girl on your car’s dashboard. On a flight, you might enjoy people watching fellow passengers or visually exploring the plane décor. Whatever you choose to look at, just make sure you’re focusing on something besides your dizziness or its cause.

5 Pump some iron (into your food).

Got iron? If you don’t and have an iron deficiency like anemia, it’s easier to become lightheaded even under normal circumstances. Try to eat high-iron foods like spinach, lentils and soybeans. If dietary changes aren’t enough, take a trip to your local health and wellness store and pick up iron supplements.

6 Pump some iron (in the gym).

If nothing else seems to be working to fix your dizziness, you might want to put “exercise” on your to-do list. Taking a walk or doing some other, low-impact physical activity can take your mind off of the dizziness and help get your blood flowing like it should.
