Jenna Marbles, whose birth name is Jenna Nicole Mourey, is best known for her raunchy humor and relatability. As one of the most popular women on YouTube, Marbles’ massive online following is tough to beat.

But who is Jenna Marbles, exactly? Well for those of you who need an update on the YouTube world, ENTITY’s here to catch you up.

Here are five things to know about Jenna Marbles.

1 Jenna Marbles makes YouTube videos for a living.

She first joined YouTube in 2010. However, her fame didn’t skyrocket until the release of her “How to Trick People Into Thinking You’re Good Looking” video. The video immediately went viral and received 5.5 million views in the first week. Then, her later video “How to Avoid Talking to People You Don’t Want to Talk To” was featured in The New York Times.

Since then, her success online has only risen.

In 2014, she took home the Young Hollywood Award for Viral Superstar. A year later, she received the Shorty Award for Best YouTube Comedian.  Now, she has over 17 million subscribers and over 2 billion views.

But through all this, one thing has stayed the same: Jenna continues to make videos because, as she frequently says, she likes to make people laugh.

2 Jenna Marbles has a loyal fanbase.

After Cecilia Vega from Good Morning America interviewed Jenna Marbles in 2013 about her rapid rise to fame, she and the network received a great deal of backlash for the negative and inaccurate portrayal of Marbles.

“Most of the questions included more and more insulting ways to prod me with ‘why should anyone care’ and ‘no one does care because who the f-ck are you,'” Marbles wrote on her blog.

Some of YouTube’s biggest names, including Michael Buckley and Anthony Padilla of Smosh, came out to support Marbles. “That lady should be fired,” Buckley said in reference to Cecilia Vega.

Considering Marbles massive success today, GMA probably should’ve taken a look at her successful branding and comedic talent instead of focusing on the “ridiculous” parts of her videos.

3 Her “last name” comes from her dog, Marbles.

Jenna began using her pseudonym after her mother, Deborah Mourey, complained that “Mourey” only pulled up Jenna’s videos on Google.

During the time Jenna’s first video went viral, Deborah was unemployed and looking for jobs. So, she was worried that the content of Jenna’s videos would put off potential employers.

Regardless, Deborah is still a fan of her daughter’s videos and she often appears as a guest on her YouTube channel.

4 Jenna began making videos after getting her master’s degree.

For all the critics online who call Jenna Marbles “stupid,” you may be surprised to know that she’s a highly educated woman.

When she was still living in Boston, she attended Suffolk University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Then after that, she went to Boston University and received a Master of Education in Sport Psychology and Counseling.

After college, she paid for rent by working various jobs. She’s been a bartender, has worked at a tanning salon and has blogged for Barstool Sports. Jenna has even modeled with Model Mayhem and go-go danced at nightclubs.

But after becoming successful on YouTube, she committed to her YouTube account full time.

Aside from making videos, Marbles has released her own brand of dog toys called Kermie Worm & Mr. Marbles.

She also hosts weekly episodes on SiriusXM Hits 1 called “YouTube 15” to talk about trending YouTube videos. On top of that, she has a weekly podcast with her boyfriend, Julien Solomita, where they talk about personal stories and other YouTubers.

But if you’re just looking for a good laugh and wacky videos about how to braid Sriracha sauce into your hair or how to do your own acrylic toenails, Jenna Marbles’ YouTube is the place to go.
