Entity explains why people are moving to big cities.

Bright lights, tall buildings, the hustle and bustle of people roaming the streets, cars flying by with their horns blaring … are these the images that come to mind when you think of a big city? However, this bustling city  snapshot is not all there is to the city lifestyle.

Imagine a small town girl arriving in the Big Apple ready to pursue her dreams. She knows how much the city has to offer, as do the many thousands of people who are making the same big change. She is one of many that make that daring leap into the city lifestyle, to branch out and discover all there is to reach their greatest potential.

Here are five reasons to make that move yourself.

1 Opportunity

According to Liberty Street Economics, workers have a greater chance of finding a job suited to their skills in a big city because of larger labor markets. Let’s face it – there’s only so much you can do in a small town. Big cities offer greater opportunities and can open your eyes to careers  you once never thought about pursuing. For instance, tech jobs are booming in San Francisco, while Los Angeles is the place where people go to pursue their passions in the entertainment industry.

2 Cultural Diversity

Big cities are cultural and ethnic melting pots, the perfect places to experience other cultures and cultivate a more open mind. On top of that, for those who love trying new cuisine, you will find food options from just about every background, whether that’s a street merchant or a 5-star restaurant. CNBC states that Los Angeles and New York are the top two most culturally diverse cities in America.

3 Entertainment

In the city, there is always something to do no matter what your interests. For music junkies, go to a festival, see your favorite artist at a large venue or visit a café that has open mic nights. If you’re into art, there are a multitude of galleries and museums to puruse. New York City is home to some of the best Broadway shows, while Paris has the world’s largest art museum and Miami’s nightlife is thriving.

4 Medical Care

Many hospitals in big cities are recognized for their quality care and great staff. U.S. News Best Hospitals list ranks Boston as having the nation’s best hospital, with Chicago and Los Angeles both having over 30 facilities in the rankings. There are many medical care facilities that would not be accessible in rural areas.

5 Public Transportation

Getting around the city is much easier with public transportation options such as BART in the Bay Area or New York’s subway system. You won’t have to worry about trying to find parking or paying for parking at a meter and you’ll save a lot of money on gas. Going to work and leaving work during rush hour is less stressful when you don’t have to worry about sitting in traffic.

Big cities are diverse places full of opportunities and open doors that aren’t available in smaller towns. The brave make the transition in order to expose themselves to new people, places and chances. Are you ready to make the move?
