How else to explain some of the bizarre recent events in Trumpland? Including the controversial confirmation of Betsy DeVos as education secretary.
ENTITY was delighted when Trump appointed several women to senior roles in his administration – especially after a campaign that, to say the least, seemed not to value women too highly.
But it’s been sad to watch so many of them since fumble around like that time a drunken David Hasselhoff went reaching for that cheeseburger on the floor.
Like Kellyanne Conway who became more cringeworthy than ever when talking in an MSNBC interview about the non-existent “Bowling Green Massacre.”
That led to CNN to decide against booking her due to serious credibility issues, according to the New York Times.
Talking of credibility issues, Betsy DeVos had a tortuous route to her confirmation as education secretary, which only came after Vice President Mike Pence cast a historic tie breaking vote Tuesday morning.
That followed Democrat claims that the Michigan billionaire was unfit for the education secretary job as she has not held previous public office and has no professional experience in professional schools. Furthermore she appeared to have lifted quotes from other sources without attribution and used them in written answers sent to the Senate committee assigned to approve her nomination.
Monica Crowley didn’t even make it to the confirmation stage as Trump’s pick as the Senior Director of Strategic Communications withdrew from that position four days before the inauguration due to another plagiarism scandal. A CNN report found more than 50 examples of plagiarism in the conservative media commentator’s 2012 book, “What The (Bleep) Just Happened.”
That followed Melania Trump’s notorious Republican National Convention speech in which she used lines previously spoken by Michelle Obama.
Hopefully the rest of the women in Team Trump can step up and make everyone proud.
But the way things are going, we wouldn’t bank on it.
