Despite strides in the tech industry, women pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers still face obstacles, a reality ENTITY Academy is determined to change.

Jennifer Schwab, chief executive officer and founder of ENTITY Academy, sat down with Bloomberg Radio to discuss the various challenges women in the tech field continue to face.

Here is the breakdown!

Underrepresentation in STEM Fields

For years, women have been underrepresented in STEM fields. Schwab highlighted careers such as data science, software development, cybersecurity, and digital marketing, where women are marginalized.

Studies indicate that one big reason is that women don’t often see others like them at work, and there’s no one pushing them to pursue it in school either.

Possible with Commitment!

Hosts Paul Sweeney and Matt Miller pointed out how many might see it as a challenge to learn a new career at a later age. A valid thought but Schwab clarified that although learning a new career can be challenging, it can be done through commitment.

Resources Offered by ENTITY Academy

Schwab not only emphasized how upskilling into a tech career can be done through commitment but also with ENTITY Academy’s support.

Schwab discussed how her company understands that women of all ages are hustling to pick up the right skills for today’s gigs. And we’re not talking about any skills here; we’re talking about the hard skills—the technical proficiencies and specialized knowledge that are crucial for success in today’s rapidly evolving job market.

ENTITY Academy is addressing the skill gap through a comprehensive approach. Offering mentorship, coaching, and career guidance.

Schwab made it clear that ENTITY Academy isn’t just about getting women into STEM programs. They’re all about helping women grow in these fields too. They’re big on building a supportive community, making sure women feel strong and cheered on every step of the way.

The radio interview didn’t just focus on the lack of women in STEM. It also talked about a bigger issue, which is women’s rights.

They brought up Roe vs. Wade, and Schwab shared her thoughts on how it might affect women in the workforce. She didn’t hold back.

Schwab said it’s a tough time for women in the country. They feel like their healthcare rights are on the line. But ENTITY Academy isn’t just about business; they’re there for their female employees on these issues too.

“It’s a devastating time for women in this country. Women feel that healthcare is up for grabs. We are addressing this head-on. … We have to speak out about women’s rights to own their bodies.”
