Mother Nature isn’t always friendly. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be friendly to Mother Nature.
You may not realize it, but you can make a significant impact on the environment based on your chosen menstrual products.
According to the Plastic Pollution Coalition, a person with a period may use over 12,000 female hygienic products over the course of their life. That’s over 12,000 plastic applicators or pads going into landfills or washing up on oceans that take decades to biodegrade.
Also, many feminine products can contain harmful chemicals, such as dioxins, furans and fragrance chemicals, which link to endocrine disruption and cancer.
So, do your body and our planet a favor by being more sustainable on your period with these products.

Menstrual cups are the best way to reduce your plastic consumption. This eco-friendly, silicone cup is reusable, so once it fills up, you can dump out the contents, wash it and continue reusing it. Instead of going through multiple tampons or pads, you’re sticking to one product that you don’t need to throw into the trash.
Menstrual cups also don’t contain any toxins or bleaches that usually lead to toxic shock syndrome.

While the idea of reusing a pad makes some uncomfortable, these pads are easy to clean and a lot of brands offer carrying case, so when you need to switch them out during the day, you can put them in a case, drop them in your purse and carry on with your day.
Also, think of all the money you’ll save on not having to buy a new pack of pads every few months.
