Entity shares why MIA has the most badass style.

M.I.A. is arguably one of the best female rappers of all time. She’s been killin’ it on the music charts for about a decade now. Her music has a certain taste that no one else has. It’s also worth mentioning that her political, social and cultural references harmonically coincide with a hodgepodge of diverse styles of music. The inspirational woman challenges and defies people’s expectations of her as a Hindi woman and the world loves it.

Her music isn’t the only thing that’s unique about her, though. M.I.A.’s style, along with her rhythm, is like no other. Her Sri Lankan roots show through her fashion choices. With deep muted reds and bright golds combined with cobalt blues and bright teal lipstick, M.I.A.’s style can’t be described with just a few words.

The rapper herself has said that her inspiration comes from guerrilla fashion, other cultures, the ’80s and urban style. At the 2014 Super Bowl, M.I.A. took the stage in an ancient Egyptian wig adorned with gold. In October 2010, M.I.A. showed up on stage with tribal print leggings, a wide silver belt, heavy blue eye shadow and a police-looking hat with red feathers.

Overall, what makes M.I.A. the most badass of all female rappers is that she can’t be contained. She’s wild and you never quite know what she’s going to do next. And what makes it better is that it’s natural. She’s not trying too hard and you can tell. She doesn’t care at all what people think; she dresses the way she wants, no matter how controversial it is.

The world needs more of M.I.A.’s cool, purposeful and badass style.
