Entity reveals that entertainer Mick Jagger welcomes new baby boy with ballerina Melanie Hamrick.

Mick Jagger is a new dad again at 73. The rockstar welcomed a baby boy with his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, 29, on Dec. 8. Although this is Jagger’s eighth child, this is the couple’s first.

While Jagger is a well-established rock icon, fans may not know much about his partner. Melanie Hamrick is hardly a household name. Yet Hamrick – who is both a professional ballerina and fitness guru – has a resume of her own.

Hamrick is a dedicated and driven woman when it comes to her work. She started dancing at age three and left home at 11-years-old to attend a boarding school and chase her dream of a ballet career. In 2003, she was welcomed to New York City’s American Ballet Theater intensive program and offered a spot onstage the following year.

Prior to the baby news, she has kept details of her relationship to the rockstar under wraps. “I’d rather not comment on my personal life,” she told W Magazine. Instead, she shifted the interview focus on her professional endeavors, particularly with fitness, exercise and endurance.

While the professional dancer is passionate about healthy eating, she does not encourage starving yourself for the stage. Instead she serves as a positive role model for women pursuing a career in the competitive ballet business where women are often ridiculed and objectified.

“Our work environment is already intense,” Hamrick told W Magazine. “If you make your eating intense, it’s too much, especially since you’re looking at your body all day in the mirrors … At the end of the day my philosophy is everything in moderation.”

Aside from her W Magazine interviews, Hamrick’s media coverage usually revolves around her relationship status. Yet her trending baby news may prompt the media to delve into her established dancer career rather than define her solely as Jagger’s girlfriend.

This announcement comes just after the Rolling Stones released their latest full-length album, which features legendary musicians performing covers of songs from other artists. The rock band also came out with a new music video for their cover of Eddie Taylor’s “Ride ‘Em On Down” featuring edgy actress Kristen Stewart.
