Entity discusses Real Housewives star taxes

“Real Housewives of Orange County” Star Lizzie Rovsek has a lot of fans, but Uncle Sam may not be one of them.

A recently released tax lien from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that the reality TV star and her husband, Christian Rovsek, owed a collective total of $74,288 dollars in back taxes from 2014.

What does this mean for Lizzie? This tax lien establishes the government’s right to Lizzie’s property. Contrary to popular belief, this does not mean the IRS will swoop in and seize all of her assets. It states that the government has first “dibs” on Lizzie’s property if she continues to not pay her taxes. So no eviction notice yet.

Although the consequences for tax liens aren’t immediate, they can be pretty damaging in the long run. Once this tax lien was filed, it immediately went on Lizzie’s credit report. Not only can this significantly affect her credit score, but it could also increase the difficulty in receiving future loans. Lenders don’t like to see a tax lien on your credit report, because the government already has dibs on all your stuff.

So yeah. Taxes are terrifying.

Lizzie has not commented on the lien’s release, and there is no evidence that Rovsek’s debt has increased or decreased since its filing.

Despite this financial faux-pas, Lizzie is a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur. In addition to being a reality TV star and former Miss Kentucky, she runs her own swimsuit line called Sun Kitten Swimwear. She is returning to “Real Housewives” for the show’s twelfth season which airs July 10 on Bravo. This will be her first appearance since Season 9 of the reality series.

However, Lizzie is not completely under the bus. According to the lien, the last possible day Lizzie can pay back her fine without consequences is December 23, 2025. Godspeed, Rovsek.
