When you think of an animal rights activist, do you imagine those people waiting outside of red carpets ready to pour red paint on any woman that wears fur? Or do you imagine half-naked women posing on behalf on PETA? Thankfully most animal rights activists aren’t actually that extreme. One prime example: British comedian and star of the original UK version of “The Office,” Ricky Gervais.

For Gervais, speaking up for animals is part of his moral duty. “Animals don’t have a voice,” he says. “But I do. A loud one. I’m a f***ing big mouth. My voice is for them. And I’ll never shut up while they suffer.”
One of the most common ways Gervais speaks up? Through his Twitter account. Here are nine of Gervais’s most inspirational, shocking and heartwarming tweets about animal rights.

Gervais’ passion for animals is clear. He won’t stop bringing awareness to animal cruelty until animals are getting the rights they deserve.
