Writing loud is Not Easy

Being able to write loud is not an easy task. More and more women are taking to writing to express themselves. These two women are so great at it that they make it look and sound easy. Society’s sirens and toxic negativity often silence people’s opinions and perspectives. But Elain Welteroth and Cleo Wade cannot be silenced. Their powerful writing comes from their souls.

Elaine Welteroth is an American journalist and Cleo Wade is an American poet. They both use the power of words on paper to scream loud. With their loud screams, they are able to overpower society’s attempt to silence diverse voices.

Elaine and Cleo don’t only speak for themselves. They speak for many women. It’s amazing how the written word can have such a big impact. No matter what it is you’re reading from these two women, you are sure to gain so much insight and inspiration. Through their writing, these two communicate their bold personalities, passions and social values.

Elaine’s beauty extends far beyond her physical features. Her spirit and her writing are exquisite. She bares her soul in her writing. In 2017, EIaine became the editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue. She is the second person of African-American descent or heritage to hold the title of editor-in-chief at a Condé Nast publication. Condé Nast has been around for 107 years and she is only the second African-American person to hold that title. Let that sink in.  When Elaine took over the position from Amy Astley she made sure Teen Vogue began publishing more feminist, political and activist content. She is transforming the magazine into a relevant outlet that informs its young readers about current events and important social issues.

Elaine discusses what its like to be in charge of an outlet that reaches such an enormous audience in an interview with The New York Times:“There’s so much opportunity to mean more to this audience…” She understands the importance of journalism, especially in today’s world. Elaine understands the impact of words. She believes that it’s not enough for stories to be diverse, but that the people telling the stories need to come from diverse backgrounds. Elaine went on to say, “You can’t just change the image or the stories, you need to change the storytellers.”

Elaine keep writing loud and focusing on the importance of diverse journalism! We’ll keep reading and listening.

Cleo writes and speaks straight from the heart, which makes her every woman’s best friend. She is a poet, speaker and artist all in one. Author of the popular, Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life, Cleo fills the book’s pages with inspiration and positive affirmations for her readers. In a world filled with negativity, she stays positive. She wants her book to be more than just another simple collection of pages behind two covers.  Cleo wants her book to transport her audience to another place. In an interview with The New York Times, she said, “I connect with my audience because I start with where they are in life, and I just try to walk with them…I want you to rip out pages and put them on your fridge.”

She is a firm believer in the power of words to change people’s lives. Cleo also believes that love can conquer any hate, and once said, “I don’t need to know you to love you.” She is filled with all the love and positivity that every woman deserves to be filled with and she is sharing her love and wisdom through words. She is writing loud words and we are hearing and loving them.

Cleo, you love us and we love you!
