Entity shows all of the important lessons we've learned from 10 Things I Hate About You.

If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t read this article because it contains spoilers. Also, if you haven’t seen the movie, don’t read this article because you’re wasting time that should be spent watching “10 Things I Hate About You.”

You have to watch it so you can have all kinds of unrealistic versions of high school love in your head. It’s a classic, go watch it now.

For those who have been blessed by the beauty that is Heath Ledger as Patrick Verona, here are the 10 things we’ve learned from teen comedy classic, “10 Things I Hate About You.”

1 Life is not like the movies.

As great of a storyline as it makes, we can’t quite remember the last time the bad boy fell in love with the antisocial girl. Where would they even meet? I mean, on the off-chance the bad boy was not originally paid to date her before falling in love.

2 We love Heath Ledger.

As if we can even look at a picture of him without missing him dearly, but in this movie we are feeling all types of ways for Heath and we can hardly stand it.

In “10 Things I Hate About You,” I think Heath Ledger might be the epitome of what every girl wants in her man. RIP.

3 Men should read more poetry.

You might have thought that men reading poetry would be feminine or geeky. But men should be trying to replicate nearly everything Heath does in this movie. To the T. Seriously.

And the poetry reading thing, it’s working.

4 Other dads are strict, too.

Here we were thinking it was only our dads who set unreasonable curfews or had unrealistic expectations of the people we date, but no. There are other dads out there who *gasp* might even be stricter than our own father.

At least our dad didn’t have a rule that you couldn’t date until your older sister did. C’mon.

5 Man buns didn’t used to mean hipster.

The man-bun might be the most stereotypical and identifying quality of the genre of men we know as hipsters. But this was not always the case. Heath Ledger rocked the bad boy look, man-bun and all. And we loved it.

Let’s bring back that version of the man-bun, please.

6 The ’90’s were better than now.

There’s a reason Nineties fashion is making a comeback and it is probably because, well, it was better. The style, the music and the culture – we want it back.

7 Older siblings are the worst.

We’re unsure what the logic was behind not letting your younger daughter date until your older daughter does. Look how that turned out.

8 You don’t have to be who they want you to be.

In a life full of expectations, it is important to remember that it is your own expectations that really matter.

9 Kat Stratford is the feminist we need.

Enough said.

10 Spoiler alert: She doesn’t actually hate him.

Like most girls, Kat does not actually hate the man that she says she hates. Shocker.

Little did we know this oh-so-very-specific ’90’s plot would teach us so much about our own lives.

We’ll just be here waiting for the boy we’re in love with to show up to our practice singing to us. *sigh*
