Entity reports on fun ways you can celebrate Labor Day.

It’s arguably the saddest time of the year. You can feel the days slowly but surely growing shorter. The smell of summer barbecue is drifting away, fading into the not-so-distant memory of entertaining campfires, s’mores, beach bonfires and pool parties.

Summer has come and gone faster than a weekend trip to Vegas, but fortunately you still have time for one last roll of the dice. With Labor Day marking the official end of summer, you’ll want to plan ahead to make the most of your final moments of freedom. Here are three Labor Day celebrations that you won’t want to miss.

1 American Music Festival in VIRGINIA BEACH, VA

For East Coast city dwellers and overworked suburbanites, Virginia Beach is the place to go this Labor Day. From September 2nd through September 4th, this seaside town will play host to The Verizon Wireless American Music Festival, “the largest outdoor music event on the East Coast.”

Pack your flip-flops, hats and sunscreen for three full days of live music, food, vendors and booze along Virginia Beach’s iconic boardwalk. Those who are willing to spend a bit more will have access to exclusive VIP passes with a separate concert viewing area, hors’ d’oeuvres, two free drinks per person and tickets to Friday and Saturday’s concert lineup.

For more information and to purchase tickets visit the festival’s website.

2 Festival of Sail in SAN DIEGO, CA

Californians from Orange County to San Francisco won’t want to miss San Diego’s iconic Festival of Sail and Tall Ship Parade hosted by the Maritime Museum and Port of San Diego. Sail into your Labor Day weekend at the largest Tall Ship Festival on the West Coast from September 2 until September 5.

Festival admission tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for military personnel, children and seniors 62 and older. Tickets for kids two years and under are free. For even more adventure, you and your family can purchase tickets to experience the Tall Ship Parade firsthand. You can follow the parade route and experience a mock cannon battle aboard a maritime vessel.

For more information about ticket prices and festival activities, be sure to visit the Festival of Sail website.

3 DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL in DETROIT, MI

Jazz lovers and musicians won’t want to miss the world’s largest free Jazz Festival this Labor Day weekend in Detroit Michigan. The 37th annual Detroit Jazz Festival will take place on five different stages over several city blocks in downtown Detroit. Over 100 diverse acts are set to perform completely free to the public from September 2 until September 5.

For a more exclusive experience, VIP tickets can also be purchased through The Detroit Marriot at the Renaissance Center.
