The late 90s and early 2000s are when pop-punk was really thriving. Yet, for many of us emo kids at heart, we’re still listening to those classic pop-punk jams well into adulthood. While it may seem like every pop-punk band has fallen off the scene, what you might not have known is that some of the most beloved pop-punk bands from that era are still making music!

So, here’s a list of five bands still making music today to listen to as you think about how easy things were back in 2005.

We The Kings

If you were in middle school in the late 2000’s, you probably remember listening to “Check Yes, Juliet” by We The Kings, pretending your crush would write you a song like that. So if you’re still nostalgic for that time, We The Kings is still making music and touring. Their newest album, Six, came out in mid-2018, and the band has been touring worldwide ever since.

All American Rejects

The band that “Gives You Hell,” came out with a new single called “Stay” in 2018. They continue to tour with other bands, and will be a part of the Vans Warped Tour 25th Anniversary shows. Formed in 1999, the band got popular with the release of “Swing, Swing” in 2002 and continues to work on new music today.

All Time Low

Best known for “Dear Maria, Count Me In,” All Time Low has been consistently making music since 2006 when their first album “Put Up Or Shut Up” came out. In 2018, the band dropped two singles: “Everything is Fine” and “Birthday.” All Time Low isn’t currently touring, but they’ve been very active on their socials as they just wrapped up their most recent tour a few months ago.

Panic! At The Disco

If you don’t know Panic! At The Disco is still making music you may have been living under a rock all year. Formed in 2004, the band blew up when “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Their new album “Pray for the Wicked” dropped in 2018, containing popular songs such as “High Hopes” and “Hey Look Ma, I Made It“. In addition to this, Brendon Urie, the band’s frontman was featured on Taylor Swift’s new single “ME!” that came out in May of this year. The band’s next upcoming appearance together will be at the Atlanta based music festival Music Midtown.

Fall Out Boy

When thinking of 2000’s pop punk, Fall Out Boy is one of the greats. The band was formed in 2001 in the suburbs of Chicago. They hit it big when “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “Dance, Dance” helped their second album “From Under The Cork Tree” go double-platinum in 2005. Fall Out Boy’s latest album M A N I A came out in 2018, and in April of this year the band was featured on a song by ILoveMokonnen and the late Lil Peep called “I’ve Been Waiting.” The band isn’t currently touring, but remains actively making music.

Much to our parent’s dismay, we hope pop punk never dies.
