Entity shares the most popular female characters on Netflix, the streaming giant.

Netflix has changed how the average consumer watches TV today. The platform’s binge-worthy shows and favorite movies that are available for on-demand streaming help us fall in love with characters over and over again. One of the perks of the new entertainment platform? The characters’ race, sexuality and gender reflects today’s diverse culture much more accurately.

Here is ENTITY’s list of the five most popular female characters on Netflix right now.

1 CLAIRE UNDERWOOD FROM “HOUSE OF CARDS.”

Claire Underwood is undoubtedly a power house; she is composed, strong and extremely articulate. The wife to Frank Underwood, President of the United States in the widely popular political show, she is a confident force unlike any other fictional female character. As a hyper-focused female who is always tailored impeccably, she is the woman for inspiration on how to get the job done with poise, elegance and fierce determination.

However, her means to an end at all costs M.O. portrays her as a much more ruthless and cunning character than our vision of the ENTITY Renaissance Woman. Let’s face it, character and integrity are not among Claire’s strong suits.

2 OLIVIA POPE FROM “SCANDAL.”

It’s hard not to fall in love with and simultaneously desire to become Olivia Pope. And if not be her, at least settle on becoming one of her gladiators-in-suits. She is a leader unlike TV has ever seen – Olivia Pope is both intellectual and highly emotional. Drama might follow her everywhere, but Olivia Pope thrives off of the chaos. She even manages to create order from it and justice gets served.

So is she the ENTITY Renaissance Woman? In some ways as explained, yes. But by having an open affair with a man who is married to the First Lady of the United States, no. Not to mention, her participation in rigging the Presidential Election does not fall in the good column on character and integrity.

3 GRACE AND FRANKIE FROM “GRACE AND FRANKIE.”

Grace, played by Jane Fonda, and Frankie, played by Lily Tomlin, have been rivals for their entire lives. As their husbands pronounce their love for one another, Grace and Lily enter a new chapter together. As two females in a comedy dealing with sexual orientation, divorce, and friendship, these inspirational women are spearheading a Hollywood scene that is usually untouched – the retirement age.

4 LIZ LEMON FROM “30 ROCK.”

“30 Rock” is a comedic classic and Liz Lemon is at the epicenter of the Manhattan based, SNL influenced show. Lemon is a comically bewildered but focused workaholic. Played by Tina Fey, who doubly serves as the creator of “30 Rock,” Liz Lemon’s appeal stems from her ability to relate with others in the work field. The portrayal of a woman rising through the ranks within a company with the never-ending grind of work is one of the many reasons why it makes it so difficult for viewers to stop watching.

5 JACKIE PEYTON FROM “NURSE JACKIE.”

Jackie Peyton is a drug-addicted nurse working in a high-energy emergency room in New York City. She captured audiences for seven seasons with controversy and drama, and while many of her actions are unethical under real life nurse and doctor laws and codes, Jackie Peyton is a relatable character. She is the symbol of how the high-grind life can be dealt with dire consequences unless you take care of yourself.
