Denver-based food blogger Cait Crowell, known to her followers as WhatCaitAte, is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who loves to change people’s lives based on their eating habits.

Growing up an athlete, she has prioritized fitness since childhood; however, didn’t always focus on other healthy habits. After seeing a Holistic Nutritionist (who changed her life with a strict paleo diet and some supplements), Cait now makes it her mission to change other’s lives, starting with their gut.

But is Cait just all health and no fun? We think otherwise. Here are five things to know about Cait Crowell that prove she’s more than just gut health.

1. She’s Obsessed With French Bulldogs

Cait and her husband share a sweet little french bulldog, named Denali!

Not only does she post photos of him all over her social media accounts, but she loves to take him on adventures and stay active.

2. She’s A Big CBD Advocate

Cait has recently looked into the research behind the endocannabinoid system, which is a complex system of receptors that interact with cannabinoids (compounds found in cannabis) that directly affect the nervous system in our bodies. It’s found in every human body, especially within the immune system.

CBD is a specific part of the cannabis plant that interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body. CBD can actually improve the performance of the endocannabinoid receptors in the body. Cait describes it as a primer for the system. Having a cannabinoid deficiency can actually result in headaches, mood changes, and other negative systems.

Cait’s favorite CBD oil is Beam, which she believes stands out among the rest. Her favorite products in particular:

The One: Beam’s most popular product. Helps improve focus, ease anxiety, and fight inflammation.

CBD Protein Bar: Comes in two flavors, Cacao and Vanilla. Made with a plant-based protein.

The Fixer:Mad with CBD, lavender, and eucalyptus. This multi-purpose product can help relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and soothe skin.

3. She Prioritizes Sustainability

On her blog, WhatCaitAte, Cait lists some of her favorite sustainable practices and habits to adapt into your lifestyle.

They include simple actions like bringing your own reusable bags to the grocery store, skipping the plastic produce bags in store, and keeping the lights off during the day.

Some more complex (yet totally doable) actions she lists include buying local/organic/biodynamic products as much as possible, buying non-toxic beauty and cleaning products, and researching your daily brands to see what their sustainable practices are. Make changes as necessary.

4. She Has A Lot Of Great Beauty And Skincare Tips

Cait loves incorporating natural products into her beauty and skincare routine. According to the National Cancer Society, reports show that some beauty products contain harmful substances that can be absorbed through the skin, or enter the body through nicks and cuts from shaving. Cait believes it is so important to make sure you know what you’re putting on your skin.

Here is a list of her favorite products, from the female-owned and operated company, Primally Pure, that offers a range of skincare and beauty products:

Deodorant: Multiple recipes, including Charcoal + Eucalyptus (Cait’s personal favorite), their original recipe featuring tons of great smells, and an unscented recipe that’s great for anyone who deals with ingrown hairs, bumps, irritation, etc.

Everything Spray: Great for calming irritation and helping the appearance of red bumps, anywhere from the face to armpits. Good for balancing and toning skin.

Cleansing Oil for Normal Skin: Use as you would your normal daily cleanser. Use after steaming the face with a hot towel for helping pores open up to absorb the oil and push dirt out.

Fancy Face Serum: Great way to hydrate your skin without clogging pores or overloading!

5. She’s A Crossfit Junkie

Not only is Cait big on staying active to help lead a healthy lifestyle, but Crossfit, in particular, is one of her go-to exercises. During Cait’s time as a D1 collegiate track athlete, she chose to do Crossfit workouts as a go-to offseason workout.

Cait is great about posting pre and post-Crossfit meals to help stay fueled for an active lifestyle. Crossfit, in particular, has helped her maintain great endurance and has been great cross-training for her.
