Actress Anna Faris could face up to $5,000 in fines after a dog she adopted was found emaciated and wandering the streets on Friday.

The “Mom” star’s Chihuahua, called Pete, was tracked back to Faris through a microchip,  according to TMZ.

The reason for the fine? She may have violated a contract signed with Pete’s adoption agency, Kinder4Rescue.

While Kinder4Rescue owner Laurel Kinder claims that she has not been able to contact her, a rep for Faris told People, “Anna is thrilled that the dog has been found, and is ensuring all necessary arrangements are made to bring the dog home.”

It’s unclear if Faris and her actor husband Chris Pratt had given the dog to a new owner.

If they had found a new home for the animal, it wouldn’t be the first time. Pratt took to Twitter to try to find a new owner for Faris’ cat back in 2011, stating that the decision was best for the couple as they were trying to start a family. He later confirmed they found a loving home for the kitty.

ENTITY hopes this animal abuse rumor isn’t true – after all, Faris and Pratt looked like the poster couple for PETA back in 2012 walking their three dogs just after Faris gave birth to their child. Plus, Faris previously starred in a commercial for PetSmart, seen in the video above.
